    I was told This item did not need to be plugged into an outlet. But it does I was in a hotel, and had to go out to buy an extension cord.

    This is perfect if youre traveling and you have a Tv in your hotel room that you cant cast your phone on to it, so instead of watching old cable tv you can just bring up youtube.
