It regularly loses wifi connection and freezes up. At least twice per week, I have had to do a hard reset (unplug the stick). I am starting my search for something new.

We appreciate you noting that you prefer the Fire TV format — and we want to help you get the reliable experience you deserve. Losing WiFi and freezing multiple times per week is certainly not the performance standard we aim for. Here are a few things that may help:
Check your HDMI connection — Try using the included HDMI extender cable if you aren't already. When the stick is plugged directly into the TV, it can sometimes cause interference with the WiFi antenna.
Power supply — Ensure you're using the original power adapter and cable that came with the device. Underpowered USB ports on TVs can cause freezing and instability.
Router placement — Since the 4K Max supports Wi-Fi 6E, make sure your router is within reasonable range and not obstructed by thick walls or other electronics that could cause signal interference.
Software update — Go to Settings > My Fire TV > About > Check for Updates to ensure you're running the latest firmware, which often includes connectivity fixes.

Their easy to use ring with the large center area within the ring is so easy and fast to use. I like their remote better than Roku or Apple TV remotes.
