This little guy is a great performer overall. I am a cord cutter and have several TVPC devices, to include the amazon fire tv box and a matricom Q box. I will say this streaming stick is very smooth for the most part. I do experence a slight lag from contol inputs to when the stick actually exectues the input. The wifi antenna on this is great, no issues with buffering. Also, loading third party apps is a breeze if you want to add things like Kodi (XBMC) or whatever else you want to side load. I would recommend this item 100%. Try to find the $24.99 deals that come around though.

This is a great product. This is second only to Chromecast. So why Fire TV stick if Chromecast is better? Because unfortunately Chromecast doesn't support Prime Instant Video. So if you have a Prime membership, you need to get one of these as well. This is also super fast. Movies load in an instant. While that is a plus point for many, I find it an annoyance because it takes up all the bandwidth, i.e. while it is playing, I find the internet on my computer and other devices noticeably very slow. Since thees sticks are cheap, having both a Chromecast and a Fire TV stick is no harm.

I absolutely love the Fire Stick. It is easily moved from place to place, easy to use and setup, and it's not bulky. Works great with streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. It's an all around great device.

I have a firestick for my living room and was so pleased I bought two more. Just plug into the hdmi port, attach a power cord, and you are done.
This gives you access to most video streaming services ( Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc) and works great with a solid Wifi connection. I have Fios and the streaming is instant and stable. My Mom has a much slower 10Mbps wifi, so occasionally there are some buffering issues, but it's really infrequent.
I also have an Apple TV. The firestick performs the same functions as the Apple TV but doesn't have access to your ITunes or IPhone content. If that's important to you, get the Apple TV. But if you have Amazon prime, Hulu or Netflix subscriptions the fire stick works great.
Best Buy and Amazon occasionally run special pricing on the device at $24.99. It's too good for tv watchers and cord cutters to pass up.

Streaming media is the future. The fire tv stick is leading the charge. Besides all the offerings from Amazon, 3rd party apps can also be loaded on it. Can anyone say Kodi? The supplied remote works well and covers most of the bases. Unfortunately it doesn't have a mouse function that is needed on some 3rd party apps. The 4gb's of memory is insufficient over a long period of time also. You'll need an app like cleanmaster to keep everything running smoothly and keep plenty of free space on the stick.Overall, the fire tv stick has a well structured menu, a responsive remote, is very inexpensive and is portable. Take it to a friends house, on vacation, or just move it to another tv easily.

Whether or not you have Prime, this is a great device. I do happen to be a Prime member and have enjoyed the video streaming from Amazon, as well as Netflix and Hulu Plus through the Fire TV Stick. The remote is a great addition. There's a competing item on the market that does not include a remote, instead you use your phone or tablet, which is not as intuitive as the remote is with the Fire TV Stick. Absolutely love this and would definitely recommend it to a friend. I might even purchase a second for the upstairs TV.

- Unlike Chromecast, the Fire TV Stick includes a remote

- Better specs than Chromecast and Roku Stick

After having the FireTV for about a month now, I can confidently recommend this product for most people. Versus the current generation Apple TV, ChromeCast and Roku offerings, the FireTV is the best value due to it's access to a wide variety of content, build quality and advanced features. It's a device I have recommended to my (almost-elderly) parents & my (geeky) friends.
Best things about the FireTV:
- It is fast - unlike the Roku it does not lag and feels like a high quality product
- Has Amazon Prime Video access- if you have prime membership, this is the best accessory you can buy. Lots of great content from Comedy Central and newer movies versus Netflix.
- An AppStore with apps & games you actually want - Plex & Showtime AnyTime are the big difference makers IMO.
- If you have local video files on your network, Plex is the way to go.
- Voice search

If you are an Amazon Prime subscriber the Fire stick is a no brainer. The interface is slick and intuitive. All of my "go to" entertainment platforms are just an easy click away. I can seamlessly switch back and forth between Amazon Prime/Instant, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, HBOgo, WatchESPN, etc, etc. For me, the feature that sets the Fire Stick apart from other streaming devices is the ease of sharing my photos and videos. I use Amazon Cloud Drive to store my photos and videos and now I can share my stuff with friends and family on the big screen with no device compatibility issues, no connecting things, and NO HEADACHES! Even the screen saver is incredible! I let it go to the screen saver on purpose because I am mesmerized by the slideshow of incredible photography. I wish there was a way to find out where all of those gorgeous pictures were taken. I recently took my Fire stick with me on a trip and hooked it up to my hotel's tv. It worked! And it was easy! It automatically detected the hotel's wifi, brought up a screen that let me agree to connect and I was up and running. This device has far exceeded my expectations.

Great alternative to buying a Smart TV

My parent's TVs are a few years older and they are not Smart capable. They only have an HDMI port. That is all they needed to make them "Smart" at such a cheap price. The Firestick has a ton of apps with the ability to download more. Netflix, Hulu, etc are all on it making it unnecessary in my opinion to pay a few hundred extra for a Smart TV with preloaded apps and no ability to configure or download more. I have gone ahead and bought a few for my entire home as well as my family's.

Since I have Amazon prime, I was delighted to have value added with Amazon prime TV and Amazon music. With this little device, I can access Amazon prime TV, as well as Netflix and many other options, on my TV that is not a smart TV. As long as it has an HDMI port, it will work. It works well, and my grandsons discover many other possibilities for it when they come to visit. I would recommend it.

Amazon got this one right. Compact, powerful, and user friendly. I've been a bit lazy in upgrading my internet service (currently at 6mbps download on DSL), which was the only reason I was hesitant to purchase this device. Fear not outdated internet subscribers! The Fire Stick has enough processing power and RAM to virtually eliminate the annoying buffering that is so common with slow internet speeds. I am amazed at how much more enjoyable watching online content is with this beauty.

I have a roku, chromecast, and an amazon stick. The amazon stick has strengths and weaknesses compared to these, but overall I recommend it as the best price for the feature set.
Stengths:
RF Remote (no line of sight needed)
Good selection of apps
Easily sideload android apps
Plays amazon app store games (Jackbox highly recommended)
Fastest stick style streamer
Weaknesses:
Less apps than Roku
No default DNLA media player (had to sideload Kodi)
Interface good but not as good as Roku. Leans towards Amazon content

Great purchase for non-smart TVs, even for aging smart TV (for example a smart LED Sony I bought in 2010, smart functions operate at a snail's pace by today's standards and half of its apps are no longer supported but the picture is still superb.) Bought one of these Fire sticks for older bedroom TV, then bought a second one weeks later for another bedroom. Simple setup and design, plenty of functions, plus you can side load KODI on it without even using a PC, just google it.

There are quite a few models out there that advertise all kinds of things but this one is great because it includes a remote and that in itself makes it more versatile for me than the Chrome-cast but I have both so I get the best of both worlds. Try to get this on sale and you will love it because it's very small and just plugs right in to any existing HDMI port and if you have a compatible TV then you won't even need to use the power cable because the port will power the adapter as well.
