Posted .Hello Alexander. I am so sorry for any confusion from the packaging of the Fire Stick Lite. This being the entry level model in our lineup, it is the lowest priced device. To remain aggressively priced, it does not have some of the features that the rest of the lineup has, one of which being TV controls. It is meant to only use the on screen menu of the Fire Stick interface and is meant for people who use their existing TV remote or have a universal remote to control everything instead. The next model up and beyond all have TV controls as well as additional options based on your needs for the device. You can see if you are still within your exchange/return period for your purchase from the store you purchased it from or in a worst case scenario, we do sell the remotes separately and even have 2 options available with additional features as well. Keep your previous generation Fire Sticks instead

While code-based apps to be entered via other devices work well, sign-in apps on the Fire Stick itself often fail. Amazon's reviews and customer service strings verify this troubling fact. In addition, updates to the Fire Stick are not packaged or bundled, so you need to update your Fire Stick over several days. Also, it should be noted that location services need to be turned-in for most apps in order for them to work properly.

I’m getting word from other people stating it needs to be “Jail-Break” whatever that is. So although the price the ordering online and no contact store pickup was amazing the process of trying to get it hooked up is a negative because at this point we still have no idea of how to set it up

I have to unplug it, then plug back in. Never had this issue with roku, so I’m sticking with that.

You can try to manually process the update by going to Settings>My Fire TV>About>Check for Updates. You can also navigate to the same menu to do a factory reset and reset the device like a new Fire Stick to see if that fixes the problem. If you continue to see the same issue, you can also contact Amazon Customer Support at 888.280.4331 to troubleshoot further or see what options you have available to you.
