No extensive set ups required. This is smaller and more portable than the Fire tv, which is why I went with it. You need to have a streaming service membership to use (Netflix, Prime, etc). You can also mirror what's on your tv/iPad to watch on your tv. I lost the small Alexa remote the first day. But you can download a remote app for your phone, so all good.

Excellent media streaming device

It syncs up nicely to the Amazon prime format. It also has tons of other free streaming apps and some apps require you to subscribe, such as hulu...etc. I have 4 of these sticks in my house on each tv and I love it since I'm not paying for cable tv anymore. I cut the cord 1 yr ago.
