We are sorry you did not have a good experience in store. The Kindle App is available in the Apple App Store and will work on the Ipad. The main difference between reading on the Ipad vs Kindle, is that Kindle offers a distraction free device that doesn’t have social media, notifications, or other apps. Kindle Colorsoft is also waterproof, unlike the Ipad.

As many other reviewers have commented, I also had the dreaded yellow discoloration on the bottom of the screen. Its actually really distracting to read on. Customer service said they have a fix coming out in the next few days so we’ll see how it is after. The Kindle itself is fine. The larger screen is nice and the color looks really nice on an e-ink screen. Not super bright but its not a tablet. Dont buy an e-reader thinking its going to be a tablet. I would recommend waiting to see if a fix comes through before purchasing. It’s a shame that Amazon released such a requested product in the state that its in.

Hilariously bad -- a failure of a product

The screen is so dim that you need at least 75% backlight to read it in indoor conditions. For reference, the Paperwhite series can be read with zero backlight indoors in normal light. 2. Text is more grainy than ever. There is still ghosting in the backgrounds. 3. Thousands, if not tens of thousands of new Colorsoft Kindles have shipped with a defective yellow-tinged stripe along the bottom of the display. When I contacted Amazon they refused to send me a new one, because it sounds like they've had so many calls about these being defective. Massive failure of quality control and design.

Worst kindle ever produced

So disappointed that i traded in my Oasis, which is no longer available.
