this is a refined product to deliver a very specific use and it does it well. for an introductory product it is great. You wont regret the purchase, but you will want more from it. While not a deal breaker, it is small. I end up having to make the print larger and it's a like reading an index card at a time. Sometimes having to swipe constantly gets tiresome. This shouldn't be an issue for normal people who have good eyes, but I wear glasses, work on a computer all day, and read in bed. so having a larger font just helps with eye strain. handling this puppy can be a little bothersome without a case. having to touch the screen to change pages isnt too bad, but the bezels are narrow enough to make this kind of annoying if you're not perfectly postured or if your using it naked without a case. Again, not a deal breaker, but it's annoying dont expect to be reading text books with linked references, magazines with a lot of side content, or [as it happens to me] The Bible when you want to skip around. It just doesn't perform well enough to deal with the latency, navigation, pinching and zooming, refreshing. again this isnt a deal breaker, but you end up wanting more. Larger, faster, etc etc. When it's all said and done, I have been happy with this thing. I feel like I can damage it, have it stolen, forget it in an airport and it wouldn't necessarily ruin my life. its affordable, the backlight has plenty of adjustment for any light environment, the e-ink reads clearly, the customization is plenty, the kindle ecosystem is great, the amazon backups are easy to work with. in all , I recommend it.

I didn't think I'd use this all that often. I've used it every day since I bought it. It's small, light, easy on the eyes, and totally legible. I am in love.

I bought this for my wife for her birthday. It is extremely light, has great battery life, and is extremely convenient. It was a great purchase!

Lightweight with a good sized screen. This kindle is worth the money.

After years of owning a Kindle Fire, I decided that I wanted something lighter and easier to hold/carry without the battery drain that Fires are notorious for. Additionally, I used the extras on the Fire so rarely that simple sounded perfect, and thankfully this checked every box. Since I was also in need of something quickly (the electrician was scheduled the next day for service work, which meant no power for several hours) I was very happy to see that my local Best Buy had them in stock. I love the backlight option. Setting to 0 gives you that paper readung experience. Is your overhead light a little too dim? Add some backlight! Super easy on the eyes and I love the small size.

Best decision ever! For my first kindle this has helped me read so much more. I love the size and the battery lasts forever! I barely ever charge it.

Another surprise gift for someone. It brought them a lot of pleasure to be able to read a lot of books. Great battery, good size.

I love my Kindle it is such a good purchase. I love being able to bring my whole digital library with me everywhere I go. Amazon gave me a hard time removing the ads. Best Buy doesn’t tell you there will be ads on it, and Amazon charges a fee to remove the ads. I should have been told about that before purchase. That’s the only issue I had with my kindle. Once I argued with Amazon to remove the ads, the kindle became my favorite thing in the world. No complaints.

This item is perfect size and easy to use! The graphics are great considering its black and white. Worth the price!

I am a man who wears gym shorts. May not seem relevant, but this kindle fits perfectly in my pockets, and I have been taking it everywhere. Reading programming books, and stories. Many of which I have myself without needing to buy from Amazon. It’s nice that I can use my own books with this device. Some settings are a bit weird and opening images is not always consistent which sucks for some of the programming ebooks i have. Also the dictionary should be a little easier to use, but these are nitpicks that don’t detract from the value of this amazing product
