Excellent reader. We have Amazon Prime and access to a number of books with Amazom. Plus we utilize our local library. This paperwhite is excellent for reading at anytime. Good battery life. If you only need a reader, you can not buy a better one. If you want more, look at the Kindle Fire tablet. Good price.

I bought this as a gift for my wife who in the past said she would never use a Kindle. Since getting one, she uses it any spare moment that she has. It is convenient to take on trips, easy to use, and can be read in low lit areas. The antiglare screen is great when used outdoors or in brightly lit locations.

The kindle is a great size, fits in most of my back or side pockets, and is great for reading out doors and in. It is definitely needed to have the back light for reading in lower light areas. The only problem that I have is the advertising isn't based on your likes, so getting the steamy love novels on your screen kind of sucks.

I was a believer of ipad. However I am not a fan of the glare. Reading at the beach, poolside my balcony or even near a window required careful positioning. Now Kindle is a wonderful thing. No glare, my eyes don’t get tired, it works beautifully and seamlessly, and I challange the fiercest Texas sun (that is bright in the extreme for those of you not living here). The Kindle paperwhite is easy to use, organize and the battery life is absurdly long. I haven’t charged mine since I got it and has plenty of charge left for a couple of more weeks apparently. Conclusion… I could not be happier :)) Definitely recommend it.

I chose the Paperwhite primarily because of the backlighting. I also own an original Kindle that does not have this feature. I love the new Paperwhite! I recently used it on a long trip and truly enjoyed the convenience and ease of use. I loved the fact that I did not have to turn on another light to read!

This item was purchased as a gift for a person with severe multiple sclerosis. She loves to read but can no longer hold a book and turn the pages. This reader allows her to turn pages with just a touch of the screen.

With a 300+ book library, I'm an avid reader. But when you're teaching a 1200-page behemoth, carting it around becomes a bit of a burden. With the Kindle, it weighs almost nothing. Plus with the Paperwhite, I can read when the wife goes to sleep without getting kicked out because of lamplight! Love it

    2015 Kindle Paperwhite is Fantastic

I'm very happy with the Kindle Paperwhite (2015 model). I didn't like reading e-books on "typical" tablet screens, which are much better for movies and games. The screen on the Kindle Paperwhite, however, is built exclusively for reading, and in that regard, it really excels. Text is sharp and easy to read in any lighting condition, from darkness to bright sunlight. Additionally, the device is lightweight, easy to carry, and fairly durable.

I have an iPad mini but it's impossible to see in the sun. I started thinking about getting a kindle while on vacation and trying to read a book at the pool. Damp hands, wrinkled pages - sunscreen all made the experience icky. I live the size, battery power, ease of use and you can see it outside.

    Better Than I Imagined

I never thought I'd like an e-reader. I'm kind of a dinosaur... I like real books... the feel.... the smell.... ah! But, alas, I travel a lot and I read even more. At my age lugging around a bunch of books in my carry-on was becoming less enjoyable. So, after my last journey I decided to try a Kindle. Well, I must say I'm not going back to paper! It downloads titles in seconds, holds a mini-library, and fits easily in my purse. I'm still on my first charge. The light in the display makes reading in low (or no) light possible. The screen prevents glare. And, the controls are easy enough for a techno-phobe such as myself. Fantastic!

I have several devices I could read on, but I like to read outside on the deck, at the park, by the pool, etc., and I can't stand glare. The Paperwhite is perfect for reading outside. It also has a backlight feature so I can read in the car at night or in the bed without disturbing the wife. The Paperwhite is the perfect e-reader if you want something with no glare, very lightweight, and one that works seamlessly with Amazon. As a Prime member with Kindle Unlimited, my Kindle Paperwhite is my go-to reader for everything.

Great device with useful functionality. Light weight, ergonomically sound, and beautiful understated design (I purchased the black model). Font size and illumination can be adjusted to the individual reader's needs. The device also provides functionality such as highlighting passages of interest for future reference, as well as searching for words with a light tap. The kindle also packs an experimental browser which, although a little awkward is nice for reading articles and internet content without a backlit screen to tire/damage vision. A great tool to start reading more daily.

I bought this for my wife and mostly she wanted it for the touch screen and the back lit screen and finally after owning three different kindles she loves this one! She wears glasses and finds this one to be less strenuous after hours of reading. I would def recommend this kindle to anyone.

This product has been so thoroughly reviewed that I won't repeat the obvious in any detail. It's great for reading under all conditions -- sharp typefaces and, of course, illuminated. Two small issues: 1. in dim light conditions the light at the bottom of the screen is a bit uneven. There are slightly darker areas just above each of the four lights that illuminate the screen. This does not bother me and it isn't noticeable in a brightly lit environment. More annoying is the fact that the Search function doesn't work with some books: for those, searching brings up no results, no matter what I enter. I have the same books on my Kindle Keyboard and have to use that to find what I'm looking for. I haven't contacted Amazon about this, but it seems odd. On other books, it works as expected. One other thing to keep in mind if you have an older Kindle is that it will need to be recharged more frequently, given that it's illuminated. Overall, I like this reader as the display is excellent, it's easy to hold, and page-turn and other navigation features all work well. If it weren't for the problem with searching, I'd give it five stars.

I tried reading books from my IPad, but had a hard time with the screen in sunlight. I spend a lot of time outside, and the kindle is the best for reading in sunlight. The interface is easy to use to download books purchased and borrowed from our local library.

I bought this for my wife and she is delighted! She already has a Kindle Fire, which can be tough to read while sitting in the sun. The Kindle Paperwhite takes care of this with ease. It is lightweight and has a long lasting battery. She's happy, so I'm happy!

I've owned one of the original Kindle for years and love it. In fact I handed it down to my daughter. I just thought it would be nice to own the newest version with the built-in light. The other thing I considered was the weight. I love my new Kindle as much as I have loved my old one.
