I bought the 3700X because I thought it would benefit me in some encoding tasks. I ended up not doing those as much as I thought I would. Now that the 5600X is out around the same price the newer chip is a better choice for a gaming system, while the 3700X is now more of a budget production workstation chip. I am giving the 3700X to my brother who does a lot of video editing once I can grab one of the new 5600X chips.

Processor excellent but fan not so much.

This noise disappeares after getting into Windows but will re-appear during heavier CPU usage. Shame to return the CPU and the fan when it is just the fan, (I’m sure just a defect) but will get a new one.
