AMAZING CPU if you can get your hands on one, but kind of sits in a weird position. I have this CPU paired with an RTX 2080 and 2x16 GSkill 3600 CL16. The 5600X is going to be more than enough for gaming. I say this with 100% confidence. I had clocks locked at 4.1Ghz and power peaking at 65, whiich is what the 5600X uses. Then using Ryzen Master and Precision Boost Overdrive I was hitting 4.55Ghz on all cores with a max boost of 4.8-4.85Ghz! While this seems like it'd be better, gaming performance didn't increase much if at all!!! This tells me that if I WERE using a 5600X, I'd be getting the SAME gaming performance from that as I do from this. Honestly, being able to lock to lower clocks and lower power draw is a big advantage to this. Keeping temps down is very nice!! Quiet system = best system! I'd recommend this CPU to someone who mostly games, but occasionally performs workstation type tasks. I say this sits in a weird position because the 5600X can be recommended for that as well, saving $150. And if you have more of a CPU based workload, the $100 jump to the 5900X may be worth it to most people. An argument can be made for streamers would be fine with the gaming performance of the 5600X but need the extra bit of performance for streaming, but most of those people are going to be using the GPU for that... so it's hard. At the end of the day, if you're just gaming it may come down to whatever is available. If this is available instead of the 5600X, it's worth it.

Nice cpu. I had an issue with my pc i thought it was my cpu. Because i look up a code that my linux distro was throwing and it kept on restarting. But anyway's I replace my Ryzen 3800x to this 5800x. And It didn't solve it. I flashed the bios and now everything is working flawless. Actually I told right out of back that this is way faster then 3800x. I installed the day before yesturday so on 10/6/23. Today i received my upgrade ram. I went from Crucial 16gb to 64gb of ram. Silicon Power Value Gaming DDR4 SP032GXLZU320BDAJ7. It's 16gb each module. I bought two pair. So total of 64 bit. I bought both pair same time and so they can be same patch. So both is samsung. It's running perfectly. But it is running hot though. Doing benchmark with cinebench i hit 85c to 90c. I did over clock it so that why plus I'm using basic fan. I over clock it so it hit 4.73 but its right at the dot 4.7. At stock i was only hitting 4.3. I could never hit what spec sheet show for 3800x. I forgot to take pic of the cpu. But I did took pic of ram. The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X stands as a testament to AMD's commitment to pushing the boundaries of desktop processing power. Boasting 8 cores and 16 threads, this 4th Gen processor is a formidable force designed for enthusiasts, gamers, and content creators alike. The absence of a bundled cooler emphasizes AMD's focus on raw performance, making it an ideal choice for users who prefer custom cooling solutions. The 7nm Zen 3 architecture delivers a significant leap in single-core and multi-core performance, resulting in a processor that excels in a wide range of computing tasks. One of the standout features of the Ryzen 7 5800X is its unlocked multiplier, allowing for easy overclocking and fine-tuning for users who want to extract even more power from their system. The Precision Boost technology dynamically adjusts clock speeds, ensuring optimal performance in any scenario. The absence of integrated graphics means that a discrete GPU is necessary, making this processor best suited for users who prioritize dedicated graphics performance. The 8-core configuration, combined with simultaneous multithreading (SMT), allows the Ryzen 7 5800X to handle demanding workloads with ease. Whether you're gaming, streaming, or engaging in content creation tasks, this processor delivers a seamless and responsive experience. The 32MB of L3 cache further enhances performance by reducing latency and improving data access speeds. Efficient power management is another highlight of the Ryzen 7 5800X. The TDP (thermal design power) is well-balanced, ensuring that the processor runs cool under standard operating conditions. This, combined with support for the latest PCIe 4.0 technology, makes the processor future-proof for upcoming hardware advancements, such as high-speed NVMe SSDs and graphics cards. While the Ryzen 7 5800X doesn't include integrated graphics, which might be a consideration for budget-conscious users or those who don't require a discrete GPU, its raw processing power and multitasking capabilities more than compensate for this limitation. In conclusion, the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X stands as a flagship performer in the desktop processor market. Its combination of high core count, multithreading, and exceptional single-core performance make it a versatile solution for a wide range of applications. Whether you're a gamer seeking maximum frame rates or a content creator demanding powerful multitasking capabilities, the Ryzen 7 5800X delivers unparalleled performance, solidifying its place as a top-tier processor in the AMD Ryzen lineup.

Prior to my 5800x, I was running an Intel i5-7400. The difference is night and day obviously. Everything I was doing on my Intel CPU was starting to become sluggish, it was quite noticeable too when performing daily tasks. At first, I was doubtful whether to buy this CPU because there are two factors (currently) that make most people look over this particular CPU. The price, and the great heat that it generates. I want to believe though, that the 5800x will age very good as the years go. This processors is a beast! For gaming, this CPU is more than plenty. For media creation and productivity this processor is just right. I game from time to time, and this processor handles gaming well. I still play on a 1080p monitor, which is more CPU bound than anything. My gtx 1660 super doesn't break a sweat anymore when paired with the 5800x. If you're worried about the temperatures of the 5800x, don't worry much about it. I have a dual tower CPU cooler mounted on the 5800x with two 120mm fans. My CPU cooler is a Deepcool Neptwin V2 with the following modified fans: (not stock Deepcool fans cause they're garabage) IXF-12025-SD-W by ID-Cooling. I idle at 33c-37c. (while browsing the web with many tabs and other programs in the background). While gaming I reach temperatures between 55c-65c. Cinebench R20 benchmarks reach at max 84c. This CPU is designed to run hot for the following reason. At times, this CPU likes to boost to its advertised boosting speeds. And whilst you might not notice, temperatures do spike about 8c-10c more. However, I think this is the best feature of Zen 3. I can safely say that 5800x will serve me well for the next 5 years or so. Hopefully even more, since I don't upgrade often. My advice if you decide to purchase this CPU. Just get a decent dual tower air cooler or a premium AIO water cooler (or a custom loop if you're into thats stuff). As long as you can tame the heat generated by this beast, you can allow it to perform to it's full potential.

I did not need an upgrade but i was curious as everybody was saying great things about it so i replaced my 3700x . Its a little fester but not that was worth getting one tho . I was gonna get 5600x because i only game on this machine but friend of mine recommend it and i caved in lol . All in all its a great processor with some high temps at first that is AMD known problem . Overclocking AMD i always had higher temps then what i have with Intel . Delidding is not and option since its not give any improvements so do your best you with the water cooling and it will be ok . For me personally is not expensive and AMD did pretty good with pretty much every line they got . Overall I think this is a great processor with ok price tag . If you don't need more than 8 cores it's overkill or if you just gaming like i do but then again its not an issue for me . Like i said , runs little hotter , of course its 8 cores , but not enough to take fifth star away .

AMD is back in a major way. Having not had an AMD process since the Athlon 64 X2 days, this is a major improvement for them compared to the joke that was the Bulldozer architecture. More cores, less money than Intel, great performance. I will say that if you want to get the most out of it, invest in a better cooler, as it will PBO better with a beefier air cooler or AIO. Great product, and already have bought 2 5000 series for the kids.

Fast processing speeds at a affordable price can't complain. I can play all major titles without buffering 1 bit. Great stepping stone to the pc world

I replaced an i5 8400 with this CPU and I can confidently say, it's a big leap. I started feeling held back in certain CPU bound games with the lower clock speeds of the 8400, and having a couple extra cores definitely helps when I'm running a stream or movie on my second monitor. The 5800x loses a star due to pricing. It's MSRP is $450, but it really should have been $50 less. That's not Best Buy's fault, it's AMD's. However, when you're only current choice is the 6 core 5600x for $300 or the $5900 for $550, it's hard to justify that leap to a $5900x if you don't do heavy productivity work, as games will certainly not use those extra 4 cores. If a 5800 non-X comes out in the future for $400, it will be a more enticing product. Overall, a great processor with questionable pricing.

    Amazing CPU for gaming!!

I have had this CPU for around exactly one year now. Normally I do all my tech reviews fairly early but I wanted to really use this chip, overclock it, game, and do lighting editing as well. To start off my full system is a Ryzen 5800X, Asus X570-Pro board, 32GB of 3600mhz G.Skill CL16 memory (4x8GB), EVGA G3 Supernova 850 watt 80+ Gold PSU, EVGA RTX 2070 Super GPU, Cooler Master NR600 Case, Noctua NH-D15 Chromax Black Edition CPU cooler. I have two Gen 4 NVMe drives and 4 normal sata SSD drives. My case is filled with all Cooler Master Masterpro ARGB high CFM airflow fans. I’m also using an internal wireless card as well as my particular x570 board doesn’t come with onboard WiFi. My reason for stating all this is the airflow and cooling in my case is exceptional. I have one of the highest airflow cases, with some of the best fans, one of the best CPU coolers, and I’m using Thermal Grizzly Kryonaunt paste which is hands down the best CPU test for overclocking and temps in general imo. Stating all this because YOUR temps may be different than mine as well as your results. To start of with the chip I’ve not had ONE single issue with it so far after a year of use. ALL I have done to it after installing it in place of the Ryzen 3600 that it replaced was I enabled DOCP on my memory which is AMDs version of XMP and I enabled PBO on my chip with the max limit set at 200mhz. That it all I touched. This chip boosts to 5.1ghz when using 2-3 cores or less easily and even if under full load will still stay around 4.75ghz on all 8 cores at 100% load. In a more realistic load like gaming it runs around 4.75-4.95ghz. Under full load like Prime95 my temps top out around 74C. Idle is around low 30s and while gaming it bounces around 55-65C. It runs super fast and super cool. This is all on air cooling too. When going from the 3600 to the 5800X while every single other aspect of my system remained the same I gained anywhere from 10 fps to over 20 fps on some games. I play at 1440P as well. If you play at 1080P your results will be even better. This is the best chip I’ve ever used and owned. My RTX 2070 Super is overclocked 1100mhz on the memory and 140mhz on the core. On benchmarks my scores beat all stock and even factory OC 2080 Supers. They also beat almost all RTX 3060 ti results as well. I’ve never played a single game where this chip bottlenecks my card ever. Whereas with the 3600 it did from time to time. Especially in games using DLSS which renders the game at a much lower resolution then upscales it. That makes the game way more CPU demanding and in titles with DLSS my fps increase was huge. Absolutely amazing cpu for gaming and you don’t have to do anything other than enable PBO. Gone are the days of manual overclocking to get all the performance you paid for. The chips auto boost themselfs as high as they can go basically all by themselves now. If you have any Zen + or Zen 2 chip and wanna upgrade to Zen 3 aka Ryzen 5000 I say it’s well worth it for gaming. The IPC increase on Ryzen 5000 over 3000 series is huge. Over 30% faster. I’ve included pictures of my setup, CPUz info, benchmark results, MSI Afterburner temperature info after playing Witcher 3 at 1440P on Ultra settings for hours, and many other others. The chip boosts high, runs cool, requires basically no knowledge to get max performance from it outside of TWO toggles in the bios, and at its current price is an amazing value imo. Fast enough to pair any GPU on the market with it if you can find one. I’ve been wanting a 3080 forever now but just no luck. I paid the MSRP of 450 for this chip and don’t regret it at all. No crashes, no issues ever, never breaks 70C while daily use/gaming no matter how long, boosts over 5ghz, and has enough cores/threads if you wanna stream and multitask while gaming you’re good to go. I think AMD did an amazing job with Zen 3 and if you’re interested in the 5800X for gaming/streaming you won’t go wrong. Hope this review helped and if it does please leave a like. Enjoy the pics and thanks for reading.

What is there to say? The best value and performance in a desktop CPU. AM4 socket and Zen 3 performance increases make these CPUs the way to go regardless of which model you choose. The 5800x is the power user leader with plenty of cores/threads for serious gamers and streamers. No bad choices here get one and then spend a week choosing your mother board if you aren't upgrading in place.

I bought this back when you couldn't get them, I really wanted the 5900x but could never cart one. I did luck up with this chip though its not silicon lottery gold but it does very well overclocking Ive gotten a stable 4.95ghz all core oc on it with minimum work on a Corsair A500 air cooler. This is in my backup gaming rig at the moment, once I can snag a 3060/3070 im going to water cool this bad boy and try to push past 5.0GHZ for some super high 1080P FPS gaming! This thing shreds my Intel I9-10850K ocd to 5.1ghz in single core workloads and almost keeps up with it in multicore work loads. I still think at MSRP the 5600X or the 5900X offer better price to performance, but if you pick this up for sub $400 its a steal!

Im upgrading from a 4790k. The 5800x is a beast, but that comes with a cost. In order to achieve its consistent 4.7Ghz boost clock ,it pushes 1.45 volts to achieve that, which is quite high for stock settings. I was seeing my temperatures spike to 70 and 80 and then it got to 90c at the beginning of a Cinebench benchmark (and there are plenty other users online who witness the same thing). Granted im using a 212 Evo Black edition cooler but its still quite high. I had to go into Ryzen Master and lower the voltage to 1.3 and limit the clockspeed to 4.5Ghz and it stays below 85c which is fine. Sucks I cant get the full performance out of this if i wanted to, but even with a roughly 10% hit in performance, this thing handles everything i need and then some. So just know, if you are seeing high temperature from this, thats the nature of the processor.
