This is a strong processor, but not worth the extra money in my opinion. Better off getting a 5600X

Not sure why all of the reviews on Amazon and Bestbuy are amazing. I wish I was still within the 15 day return period because I would return this. Idle temps is literally all over the place, I’ve reseated my new aio 5 times with fresh thermal paste and updated the Bios and drivers and still can’t keep the idle temps low. Sometimes on start up temps will shoot straight to 90c with zero programs running and you have constantly adjust the cpu performance to make it manageable. This makes me miss my Ryzen 3600.

I think I may have gotten a very poorly binned chip. Not overclocking at all using default settings with a Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 with a very aggressive fan curve. Thing shoots straight up to 90C in cinebench (have reapplied thermal a couple times and all times looks like I have a good spread). Put in ECO mode after reading up in the forums and still hitting 82C well just gaming. Have read more reviews and I guess its not usual for this one to run extremely hot compared to the rest of the 5000 series chips. Going to return and probably go with a 5600x for my gaming rig and wait tell 5950x is more available to build a encoding rig.

I wish I could give this negative stars. Don’t buy this cpu!!! Just rebuilt my PC 10 months ago. This cpu has been garbage since day 1 with overheating to over 100 Celsius then forcing an emergency shut down. Read the forums they are riddled with this same problem. I’ll never waste my time on amd again…I just ordered a new Intel processor, motherboard and gpu as to not deal with AMD ever again. Don’t waste your time on this horrible processor.
