The 5800X3D still ranks near the top of the charts when it comes to gaming performance, even compared to newer AM5 and also Intel's 14th Gen chips. If you've got an AM4 board with an older Ryzen and you're weighing your options for upgrades, consider this as a huge bang for your buck option.

This CPU is great for gamers already on the AM4 platform. It's able to keep up with 7000 series Ryzen and 13th Gen. Core series processors in many of today's games. It's probably not for those building a new system from scratch, but if you need more CPU oomph in your games from your AM4 based system, this is it.

Great CPU for gaming if you're on AM4, needs a good cooler though and good airflow because it runs hot. Normal temps with Noctua DH-15 I'm sitting around 56°- 60° as my tower is not great. Its worth the money for AM4 if you're not looking to upgrade to AM5 any sooner.

Hot, but fast. Matches a 12900KS in gaming. Get a PS120 or PA120 at the very least.

I bought this because i was having trouble with my Intel 11900k constantly flaking out on me during gaming sessions. I dont know why, but games hitched and studdered all the time and some random usb device kept disconnecting with my inetl hardware. Had an older AM4 board and put this in it and all that went away. Ive read that this could be a Windows 11 problem, but yeah it made some moments run enders in Elden Ring and such because id have a sudden fit of pauses and hutches mid bosd fight leading to a "you died" moment.... AM4 atill has a few quirks like the disconnecting device, bit i dont notice the stutters anymore. (Yes i have disconnected all of my plugged in USB devices that werent necessary, and watched Device manager while playing a game; and yes all with latest updates for drivers, windows and the games itself, and yes this only occured while playing games....). I hated it, but now it seems relatively minimized, and far more manageable.

I've been running a 3700x paired with a 4080 and was noticing extreme CPU bottlenecks. I wanted to upgraded to the 7000 series but needing a new motherboard and RAM made it too cost prohibitive. The 5800x3d is the best CPU for gaming in the 5000 series and its been an imense improvement. I can play Jedi Survivor with reasonable frames, my Cyberpunk 2077 performance has improved and my system runs better under full load than ever before.

Extreme upgrade from my previous CPU. When I first booted up it was like I upgraded a GPU. Recommend for anyone who’s wanting to max out their performance for any Am4 Slotted Motherboards

Great performance for the price but it runs HOT. I had to buy an AIO cooling system. The regular fan and thermal paste couldn’t keep it cool enough to prevent the processor from throttling itself. This would even happen on less intense games. It would just skyrocket up to 90 C. With AIO cooling it can stay in the 70s even with really demanding games. But even then the cooling system is working hard to keep it cool.

This is the fastest CPU for the AM4 platform. Can use older boards although my Gigabyte B550 board didn’t like the new chip even after updating bios so I ended up buying a new board. Much better 1% lows and 10-15% increase in FPS over the best bang for buck Ryzen 5 5600x. My one caveat was the price. I could’ve bought a 7800x 3D for what Best Buy was selling the 5600x3D. Best Buy’s price matching is antiquated. They only price match brick and mortar stores and refuse to price match some of Amazon’s sellers in a day when most commerce is done online now. I did get it for $310 after they finally price matched Newegg but this chip can be found as low as $280.

This thing is an absolute monster for gaming. I upgraded from an R5 2600x on a B450 motherboard. I bought that motherboard almost 4 years ago and with a bios update im able to basically have a brand new PC. I highly recommend this CPU as the best possible part for any gaming AM4 build.

Upgraded from a 5 series processor and what a difference this made. I mainly play Tarkov and couldnt get above 60-65 FPS on medium graphics with a 3090. Installed this and was running 140-165. Load time was waaaay better as well, as to be expected. Highly recommend this CPU.

After nearly a month, the 5800X3D is running perfectly compared to my previous intel chip. It's improved my workflow as a musician and composer and I haven't run into nearly as many moments of overload as I would have previously. Great deal from Best Buy!

It's a stellar option even compared to the current x3d variants from the latest 7000 series of you aren't quite wanting to leave the AM4 platform yet. It still has a decent life span already of it and I'm really glad I decided to get it, I have it paired with an RTX 3080 and I'm every benchmark the the 5800X3D has plenty of performance left over from what the 3080 is capable of using.

Got this when I had a $200 gift card. Used to have 5800x. This is actually a solid improvement for tbe 1% lows. I probably wouldnt have got it if I didnt have the gift card. Still though, this is the best for gaming if youre stuck with am4 platform
