First, I almost always play games at native 1440p and the difference is barely noticeable with the exception of a few unoptimized games like the new monsters hunter and the second most important reason is stability. This chip is tested and stellar, but the data on the 9800x3d makes me question the long term chip durability and AMD's design choices. I avoided the 14th gen intel chips for the same reason i am avoiding the 9800x3d, performance is great but the uplift vs the long term risk I have to take is not worth it.
