Lasted for less than a year.
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked fine for about a year. Now, it doesn't want to run any ram in dual channel. Never did anything but have it in one motherboard with an xmp profile. Welp, there goes $500...

Received a defected CPU
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am unable to review this item because I was never able to use it since could not get it to post. Worst, I found out Best Buy has a strict return limit so was not able to return. I lost $500.

Utterly amazing CPU
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ryzen 3900x can handle pretty much anything you can throw at it. Super speedy, easy to install, and comes with its own cooler (although I would recommend getting a beefier cooler if you're planning on overclocking). I love this thing. I seriously can't stress that enough. It's a great bang for your buck compared to the Intel 9900k. The only conceivable downside I see with it is that the motherboards that can take this chip to its full potential (x570) are reasonably expensive. But that's the ONLY downside. I literally cannot recommend this chip enough.

Intel has serious competition!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Intel has a serious competition now with this game change cpu. Way faster than any Intel cpu of this era and way cheaper. My order came quick and easy and now it's in a awesome rig!

Excellent but over rated CPU...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There has been a lot of news about the 3900X. I can attest to the fact that the CPU is blazingly fast. When using applications, the CPU kills Intel's i9 9900K. But all is not perfect. While rated for as much as 4.6 GHz, 90% of users have polled that the CPU never reaches that speed. My sample maxes out at 4.45 GHz. Also note that AMD rates the CPU speed only at one core, i.e. all the other cores may not reach advertised speeds. So while my CPU peaked at 4.45 GHz, most of the cores only averaged 4.35 GHz. Another issue is that the CPU runs hot, as much as 95-100 degrees, even a 280mm water cooler. Previous CPUs would run as high as 80-85 degrees so the AMD is a lot hotter. This is due to the smaller 7nm die and high clock speed. It is constantly running at 1.485 volts, even at idle. This high voltage is not conducive for long life. On the other hand, this CPU kills the Intels when running applications that are multi-core friendly since this CPU has 12 cores and Intel's i9 9900K only has eight. I use the AMD for rendering videos, which usually takes about 45 minutes, the same video will take about 60-75 minutes on the fastest Intel CPU, the i9 9900K. The speed difference is a lot higher when compared to Intel's i7 9700K which has eight cores but no hyper-threading (the AMD has 24). Playing games, the AMD is a tad slower than the Intel, because games run better at higher CPU speeds and are not core dependent, but the differences are usually about 3-7%, negligible when you are looking at 120-150 fps with a good GPU. Be also aware that the X570 motherboards designs are all over the place. You have to get a board that has a well designed voltage regulator layout. Some boards have only a 4+2 design which means the VRMs hit 125 degrees. The CPU will throttle back its speed until the VRMs cool down and repeats this cycle. Better boards have as much as a 14+2 VRM design which keeps the VRM temps to about 60-70 degrees.

Great buy

Best CPU Out there right now!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So first things first I ordered both 3700x and 3900x to test out both since I was undecided. 3700x would've sufficed but my batch of 3700x wasn't binned properly. The infinity fabric that connects the chiplets was not clocking properly to match memory clock speed to have a 1:1 ratio, causing bad latency at high Memory speeds. 3900x blows my 9900k out the water when it comes to work and gaming. 9900k has a slight edge in my gaming benchmarks but the work load performance in 3900x is unmatched at this price point. Got lucky with the binning of my 3900x as well as it clocks its Infinity fabric up to 1900mhz. Using x470 Asus ROG Crosshair VII for this one.

buy this from somewhere else!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You're paying way too much for this at Best Buy. It's at least 30.00 cheaper at any online retailer
