Monster CPU on a now old platform
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used this CPU in a computer that was primarily used for software development and some gaming. Either way, this CPU crushed every workload I threw at it without much of a problem. It might not be the best CPU for gaming, but it's pretty good. The only problem I have with it (and is something I was at least partially aware of when I purchased it) is that it gets hot and takes a good cooler to keep it cool. Even then, expect to hear the fans fire up regularly when doing any kind of work or gaming. It's not the end of the world, but it can be a bit annoying when on calls or even during the course of the day to hear the fans constantly ramping up and down. It's not a problem with this CPU, it's just the reality with most modern high-end CPUs. It's a great value with it's current pricing at ~$350, but if I were to buy a new CPU today, I would likely go for one of the Ryzen 7000 non-X cpus which provide great performance at much lower temperatures and power usage. If you already have an AM4 motherboard and need an upgrade, this is a great CPU. Otherwise, invest in a newer platform such as AM5 and the newer, more efficient chips.

Great CPU
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this as an upgrade from Ryzen 5 5600x to Ryzen 9 5900x and what a difference! The price was even better, got it at $234! The only caution is you do need a very good cooling system to pair with it. I bought a Corsair Hydro Series H60 120mm Liquid Cpu Cooler W/ Fan and that was the cherry on top!

Excellent
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s a beast of a processor, I honestly didn’t see the point of spending 200 extra dollars to get a slight increase in performance with the 5950x , great purchase

Productivity, yes. Just gaming, go with the 5600x
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was using this in an ATX build Corsair 4000d airflow B550 Aorus 3080TI 5900x LPX Corsair 3200 CL 16 32 GB I have my Noctua NH D15 cooling this big boy. I honestly don't remember it ever going above or at 80 degrees celcius. If you're mainly gaming, this is overkill. You'll do well enough with the 5600x. If you're looking to future proof, maaaybe, but the 5600x should be good enough, especially if you're gaming on 1440p or 4k, which is gpu bound anyways. If you're rendering or doing productivity work along with gaming, this is probably ideal for you.

Great Medium Build Chip
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great for medium spec'd builds and great paired with the RTX 4070. Used this CPU on my AM4 build. I would not buy this card if you intend on upgrading to anything past a 4070 but if you're looking for a budget AM4 build, this is definitely the CPU for you!

Still best high end gaming + productivity CPU 4 $
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Probably the second best value for the money next to the 5600, and best value for a high end gaming processor, at least prior to Intel 12th series

Best AMD cpu available.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have to admit, I bought this THEN found out there’s a new AMD cpu series coming and was kinda disappointed. Until, I found out that you’ll need basically a whole new computer for it to work, then felt much less disappointed. Not to mention does one actually need even need more then 12 cores and 24 threads anyways?? Especially for only gaming? Anyways, I LOVE this cpu. It does live up to the hype and beyond. Awesome oc abilities if you desire. Heck, even leaving it at default at 3.7ghz it’s still does what you want like a beast!!

Ryzen 9 for streaming!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went from a Ryzen 7 3900 to a 9 5900x. Man!! It's a beast when it comes to streaming on Twitch and etc. I had problems with 7 3900 processor not holding up with the camera views I use for Twitch. So I had to only use one view the whole time. Now with the Ryzen 9 5900x with the Elgato Cam Link Pro with 4 HDMI inputs is no question!! Smooth sailing throughout my 3 plus hours streaming with 1080p output rate. I can't say nothing bad about it.

Excellent processor!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an amazing processor. I installed it on an ASUS B550 STRIX Motherboard combined with a corair 240 AIO. I'm letting it do its thing with PBO enabled and I'm happy to say, it's achieving and actually boosting higher than the stated 4.8 ghz. It's reached 5.0-5.1 ghz on three cores and 4.9-5.0 on 4 cores with the rest reaching 4.8-4.9. I am extemely happy with this CPU! Preformance has increased in gaming and priductivity and everything else i use my computer for. This comong from a 3700x.

Nice
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been using for well over 2yrs now, and still keeps up with my gaming needs. I did originally have a bent pin, but brought it back to the best buy location and was able to swap it out for another with no issues.

High end upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded to the 5900X from the 3700X. I instantly noticed how much snappier my PC felt. It was a significant upgrade that I made because I wanted my PC to be faster when editing videos and doing other work related tasks. It was $350 which is the same price I paid for my 3700X. I don't think I would recommend the 5900X for most people but if you need something high-end then it works well enough for me.

Best Buy for the buy
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently upgraded from my R5 5600x and I can confirm that this is effective for multiple core purposes. This effectively reduces so much processing time for transferring multiple files across multiple different drives. This will work for games too but if you want to stream and download at the same time this is really the “it”.

Was hoping for a 5900xt 3D but it is an upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a 3900x previously that was somewhat of a golden sample. It scired in oar with the refreshed 3900xt in most games and benchmarks. I basically wanted to wait for a 3d cache version of the 5900x and when AMD said they were only doing the 5800 series i pulled the trigger on a 5900x the next time i saw it on sale. I dont want to replace my mobo and ram etc because of a new socket and my 3900x was already 3 years old so if i didnt grab the last AM4 chip i would need to replace most of my pc in a year or two. Now im good for a few more years, this thing is a nice upgrade over my old 3900x. They changed the core config to 2 6core chips instead of 4 3core chips and the latency is much better now with shared memory pooling. Overall it was only a slight update to the architecture but i can see a big difference in performance in certain games and a general boost in performance in pretty much everything else. It shouldnt cost this much but that is the times we are in right now. Other than cost i think this is better than any intel equivalent part in the same time frame and it is cheaper to build a whole system with the 5900x generally speaking.

Extremely powerful CPU, but not budget friendly
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a beast of a CPU, This thing is extremely powerful and can handle anything I throw at it with ease. It is certainly not the best bang for buck CPU, but the performance you get out of it is incredible. One thing I wish I knew going in, coming from a mid-range i5 CPU, this thing gets much hotter than those mid-range CPUs. 80c is normal under extreme load, and I have a very strong cooling system in a 360mm AIO and a very large case with excellent airflow. If you buy this CPU, thought MUST be put into a cooling solution either with a premium air cooler or an AIO.

Best Gaming CPU
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.More than enough for gaming. No need for the 5950x unless you plan on using it for anything other than gaming or if your games require 16 cores.

24 threads
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my new system with ASUS ROG motherboard. Came in a small box similar to most processors where there are space for the small processor and a cooler. This did not come with the cooler as advertised but in my experience, buy a better cooler especially with higher end processor because it creates a massive amount of heat. I think this is the better value versus the competition. Installation is easy, no bent pins, total of 24 threads, no headaches at this time other than hard to locate and purchase.

Overkill...in a good way.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Managed to get one of these and it is seriously quick. Probably beyond overkill for my gaming, but I do some 3d rendering so it helps there some.

Update your BIOS!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a heck of an uograde from my 2700x. I can rell a vast improvement. I rushed to put this things in without researching my BIOS version compatibility with this chip. I could not boot into the BIOS at all after installing. Switched back to my old chip, updated the BIOS, and put the 5900x back in. Smooth sailing since.
