I do not know how this movie was nominated for so many awards. Good thing it did not win to many. If I could get all my money back for this I would. Does anyone want to buy it from me?

I heard great things about this film, but I was absolutely bored with it. I had to force myself to finish the film hoping it would get better. It never did.

    American Grit

I actually was able to watch American Hustle after I had recently rented it from Redbox. American Hustle opens with the characters of Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams), Richie De Maso (Bradley Cooper), and Mayor Carmine Polito (Jeremy Renner) appearing to be in the midst of finalizing a deal. Rosenfeld, Prosser, and De Masio are actually working together towards what is supposed to be mutual professional understanding. Rosenfeld and Prosser are in love with each other. However, Rosenfeld also has a wife Rosalyn Rosenfeld (Jennifer Lawrence) and kids at home that he also has to take into consideration. What complicates matters is that De Maso also appears to be taking romantic interest in Prosser. Irving Rosenfeld’s wife Rosalyn Rosenfeld is somewhat aware of her husband’s life, but the movie portrays that that is still so much she is unaware about. Bradley Cooper plays the integral role of an FBI agent who is orchestrating the talents of Sydney Prosser an Irving Rosenfeld due to their cunning ability to be professional con artists. Jeremy Renner plays a New Jersey mayor who is also caught in the web that is being weaved around a professional deal that is ‘supposed’ to hold potential towards generating enormous profit.

    Artful artifice

There's an old adage that says "honesty is the best policy." Never has that been proven more true than in the story within American Hustle, Director David O. Russell's (Silver Linings Playbook, Three Kings) Oscar-nominated film that centers on con artists forced to pull off their biggest job yet when they're approached by the feds and given an ultimatum: reel in the bigger fish or reel off a few years behind bars. Cons, corruption, wild swings in emotion, love, lust, greed, spite, naiveté, and almost all variety of human emotions and dire consequences give the story shape and purpose. Yet for all of the interpersonal chaos and all of those broad narrative pieces, the film is just as much an intimate character examination that exposes man's drive on both sides of the law and the murky middle ground that's so often the real point of contention between the sides experiencing the pulling force that exposes both to the other's direction. Through it all is an oftentimes humorous rhythm and an only slightly bloated advancement through one of the year's most visually appealing, dramatically satisfying, and all-around fun films.

    A Wholesome Con Game

For anyone out there who is bored to death with CGI and flashy things then American Hustle is a worthwhile purchase. Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, and many others put on their A game material about con artists being used by the FBI. The special appearances of Louis C.K. and Robert de Niro are played perfect.

    Incredible, but slow.

American Hustle is lined with big name after big name, and the acting doesn't fall short either. The film does start off, and stay quite slow, so if you're looking for an incredible pulse pounding action thriller, stick with Captain Phillips, but if the 70's and drop dead acting is your bit, choose this.

This story really delivers here. See how this soon to be a cult classic disc plays out. When the Feds get top conman to work to reel in the bigger bad guys forging in the world. Bradley Cooper really delivers and Amy Adams steals every scene. This is a must own for your cops and crime genre.

Not everyone recognized what an incredible film this is--including the Academy. But the Golden Globe voters were right: it was clearly the best film of the year. Fabulous script, madcap sense of humor and wonderful ensemble acting.

Good movie. Love all of the actors in it. I was unfamiliar with this story from the 70's, but it just shows how corrupt things were back then and I can only imagine what that means is probably going on today.
