This is one of the best portrayals of the many challenges a soldier faces in their life including surviving mutiple deployment tours, being a good father and husband, helping others, and addressing the issues of PTSD. This movie addressed each and did so by staying true to the actual events of a tremendous husband and wife as they dealt with the challenges together.

Knew little of the backstory from the main character, even though he was a best selling author. Movie is done well. Will easily be a movie (like Saving Private Ryan / Black Hawk Down) that people will point to when they want to celebrate the American military. And the fact that it is true just adds to the weight of what these men / women have to bear serving us.

Great movie for the entire family!!! Actors turned in top-notch performances. Clint Eastwood's directing was superb. The tragic ending was done so tastefully, that I cried like a baby (was misty eyed @ a few parts up to that point). Get this movie, but don't borrow it to others, recommend (urge) others to purchase it. Hollywood needs to make more films like this.

This was a very deep movie. It was sad in parts but war is sad. It brings you to the realization of what our men & women really have to go though when they are at war. We don't understand all of the emotional things that a person deals with while being in a war zone and how hard it is when they come back home and try to step back into the life they left behind.

Now I know why this is the highest grossing was movie ever made. It is extremely well done. It is an in-depth study of the many emotional challenges that the greatest snipe in US history went through. It was very intense but yet very moving to see the emotions throughout the movie. I felt emotionally drained after the movie ended. I highly recommend this movie!

I Loved The Movie But It Made Me Upset On How Many Men And Women Past, Present And Future Come Home To Know Nothing But What They Just Came Back From. Where Are My Tax Dollars Going To? Why Is Their No Medical Physical And Mental For Our Warriors And Their Families? This Movie Makes A Person Think That They Don't Take Care Of Their Own And Is That Not The Motto.

I watched this movie hearing good things about it. I did not expect it to be so good. It really affected me. It follows the story of Chris Kyle when he became a Navy SEAL and the events that happened whilr he was overseas. It also showed the effects that war can have on a person which is called PTSD. Honestly, I have no words to describe how good it was.

I believe this movie truly provides an appreciation for what our men and women in our armed forces do for us to provide the freedom we enjoy every single day. I don't believe this movie celebrates war, but shows us an inside look at what soldiers must do to prepare themselves for war. It's more of psychological perspective than anything else.

Appropriately I purchased this DVD for Memorial Day & was most impressed with this true story. I've seen hundreds of war films & this one towers over all of them. I'm a veteran of the Vietnam Nam War era & know first hand this genre. This is definitely one DVD I will watch over & over!

This was a movie for the record books!! With all that is going on overseas these days, American Sniper brings a bit of that home so that the home front can SEE a SMALL BIT of what is happening and what some of our soldiers are going through.... Many thanks to the producers and actors for somewhat a clearer picture of what our troops are doing!

I had seen this movie at the theater however my dad had never seen it. I bought it for him for a Christmas present. He agreed with me about how awesome our members of the military are and all of the sacrifices they make to protect our freedom. It is truly sad all they suffer from during and after combat. It is graphic, not recommended for younger kids.

Film is great as it shows the personal and human side of a person who's main job is to protect his fellow soldiers. Some scenes were hard to watch, but necessary to understand the point of the movie. I loved his dedication and determination although 4 tours to anywhere in a battle zone is a terrible weight for the US to put on any combat vet or their family.

This movie appeared to be accurate and realistic. As most of us know this was the story of a real life hero who came to a tragic end doing what he did best, saving the lives of American Soldiers. The acting was real and authentic. Its main theme is not about the war but about an American Hero protecting his men, doing his job and fighting for his country.

I watched this movie after buying the book and reading it on a whim. I often hear folks say that the books are better than the movies, but I feel both compliment each other in this case. Regardless of your view on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, this movie gives a look into the sacrifice the members of our military take every day. I highly recommend.

Chris Kyle was a US Navy SEAL who had been trained as a sniper. He had more confirmed kills than any other sniper and many, many more probables. This movie is an excellent portrayal of this hero. When I say the end of the movie, I was moved to tears watching the footage of his funeral procession. May Almighty God have mercy on this Amercian Hero's soul.

Having not served in the military, but having family and friends that have, it is good to see a movie that is not trying to glorify the violence but portray what it is like to be in the life of a soldier. Whether you agree with going to war or even the reason why we are there, it will make you think, what would I do if that was me in that environment?

I'm not a veteran but I think this movie gives great insight on what is/has gone on over seas. It shows what some veterans go through after getting out of service. I do not like the fact that when I pre-order a product I get it days after it came out in stores. I'd rather get it before or just wait and get the item when it comes out in my local store.

This was an intense gravitating real-life "you are there" Historic experience. We all should support it and pass it on. It gives the sense of respect and pride in our country and it's place of importance necessary to maintain individual freedoms and the tremendous price it requires and we still have patriots brave enough to take on the challenge.

Eastwood's film is a fitting, satisfying tribute that should live on for decades to come as one of the great war and character films of its time. Warner Brothers' Blu-ray release of American Sniper is a little skimpy on extra content, but video is excellent and sounds great.

Great movie, made even better on Blu-ray. Extra content is minimal but color and audio are soooo much better with the Blu-ray. I love that they offer a combo pack since we like to take our movies with us when we travel and the digital copy can be accessed anywhere plus you have a DVD to loan to your poor friends who have yet to upgrade to Blu-ray.
