This hub solved multiple problems for me. For awhile, I had the HDMI port powering one 24" monitor and I had my 15" laptop sitting on a giant stack of hardcover books next to it. The size difference made moving the cursor from one monitor to the other a pain. Additionally, I had my mechanical keyboard taking up one USB port, my wireless adapter for my mouse taking up another, and the third USB was often taken up by my USB authenticator. I was out of space! I plugged this hub into my USB-C port and plugged a second HDMI monitor in so now I'm back in 2x 24" full HD paradise (3 if use the laptop monitor, but now I rarely do)! This also gives me 2 additional USB ports for external drives and a microSD slot for when I want to capture things off the memory card from my dash cam or flash images to the microSD for my Raspberry Pi. Video quality is great to the HDMI port on the hub with no noticeable latency, even while gaming on high settings. Build quality is typical Anker. The top of the housing is aluminum but the bottom is plastic. Still, it feels solid and sturdy. It comes with a nice slightly velvety slipcase, though my only nits on that are that it's a dust magnet and not quite big enough to cover the entire cable. All in all, this is a great value.

Must Have For Compact Laptops

Since most newer laptops are coming equipped with USB-C ports only, a hub like this is a necessity to create a desktop experience. I used this to connect a monitor, a mouse, and a keyboard to a compact laptop. It is plug and play and once connected Windows immediately detected it and downloaded the necessary drivers.

It has at least one connector for the main things a person can use. My daughter uses it to connect to HDMI at school and I just it to connect a flash drive to my IPad.

After using it for a while, it is very useful on my mini because I can insert/pull out my external hdd without blindly scratching the backside of my mini (hard to look backwards). To be aware of, if you use mouse with dongle or usb cable, you might want to still connect it to the main usb port. It might lag a bit in my experience and it’s not even gaming.
