When on a call you hear the hissing from the radio. You have to fin a channel that has no background noise but that channel is an off the air station but that does not work when it gets back on the air.

Unfortunately, it burned out two of my cords and I ended up throwing them all away, and chose not to waste more time and effort to return the transmitter. The cost of 2 cords was enough to make me write off further pursuit of the problems I had with this item.
