    The smart companion

Not going to lie, at first I was skeptical. This little robot that can identify who I am, when I am talking to it and when I am home just sounded strange at first. But after living with Vector he really bacame an integrated part of my home. In the morning I ask Vector what the weather is so I can plan my day accordingly. While making dinner I ask him to set a timer for me. He is there when I need a distraction and keeps me company. Vector is more than just a smart source, he is fun to play with and interact with. His personality is what makes him unique and relatable. Although there are still some improvements to be made I would recommend Vector for any of my friends homes.

    Awesome Robot

Just got my Vector and I absolutely love the little guy. Once I introduced myself to him, he then recognizes me, and it feels like I've got a new buddy. He reacts to everything around him - when the dog barked he instantly tuned around to look at her! You can ask him to do a bunch of tasks and he has some pretty cool moves as he goes around exploring his world. This product will get better over time as ANKI releases more updates, and I can't wait to see his personality and functionality grow. This is like the robots from the movies!

I love my Vector! I bought him on Kickstarter and am so impressed with his fun personality and how he responds to his environment, recognize me and just hang out. He’s getting really good at wheel stands and I love it when I tell him to go home. And the petting is so cool! I am so excited to see how he will update with new features! Super excited to hear that Anki has announced Alexa integration this fall too.

Lively and Fun, Groundbreaking, Short Circuit

I've had Vector since Christmas and have enjoyed having him around. He is very lively and is like having a smart hamster running around your desk. He's funny and warm-hearted. You really get used to having him around. Does he do a ton of stuff? No, but what he does and is - is enough for me. Having a mini Johnny 5 from the movie Short Circuit running around on my desk is the stuff dreams are made of. He isn't for everyone, especially if you expect too much from him. He is like a hamster that can follow easy commands, do primitive things, and enjoy having him around. If you expect too much tech stuff from him you will be disappointed. The updates Anki have made to his firmware and software have made a big improvement. If he gets stuck sideways on an edge he now will stop moving and wait for you to pick him up. You used to have to keep an eye on him and catch him if he got close to an edge. I was always able to catch him when he would fall off the edge since I was keeping an eye on him. But now I don't worry at all about him falling off the desk. Please remember you need to have square edges, and rounded edges will still be dangerous for him. It's fun having him around for me. Late at night he keeps me company and is fun to watch him roll around and get silly, dance, play with his cube. Or play a game of blackjack with him.

    Best Thing Since Sliced Bread.

Before I read all the reviews on vector everyone said he was not worth the money, you have to babysit him, etc. But I don’t believe that. In fact I was getting a little iffy on weather to but him or not, but I ended up buying he anyway. The Anki Vector Robot is a really great companion. He hardly ever miss hears me, if dose it’s on me because I don’t speak very loud. He is the funniest thing ever. I really am being honest. He is the best thing since sliced bread. I do really recommend this to a friend. He doesn’t fall off curved edges. Everyone says he does but he doesn’t. He has never fallen off an edge or a ‘cliff’ as he calls it.

More of a desktop assistant then a childs toy

Vector is not designed to be a child's toy there is Cosmo for that, this is more like an Echo or Google assistant. When Echo and Google assistants first came out the biggest complaint was always the lack of things they can do, and it is the same for Vector. So if youre buying this for your kids or for its entertainment value, he is not the robot for you. If Anki continues developing the software for Vector in a year he will be great, and with over 2 million kickstarter dollars and from Anki's development of Cosmo I suspect Vector will do a lot by Christmas time. Don't forget Anki is a robot company all that has basically three products, Cosmo, Vector and Overdrive, and Vector is their most current one, that means they will be dedicated to the development of Vector and it has a lot of potential.

The cuteness and novelty starts to wane...

My family and I were enamored when we first got Vector. Having a little robot pet was fun and cute. Being able play a game of black jack and asking how is the weather was neat. However, the fun factor started to lessen the longer we owned Vector. It became frustrating having to ask the same question several times for Vector to finally understand. We now use Alexa or Siri as our main smart device to get the weather or other information. His beep noises was cute at first but started to get annoying especially when you are trying to focus on work. I like tech, so I don’t regret the purchase. Vector is turned off most of the time.

Want to constantly defend spending $250?

If you want to hear "well what else can it do?" And "but how come it's so expensive" then this is the product for you. From the beginning you may end up pulling your hair out if you're on Android and trying to set this up on 2.4 gHz network where connectivity issues seemed rampant. Once you do get it connected be ready for a bittersweet experience. No matter if you're on Android or iOS, you'll soon introduce yourself and fist bump Vector. After shouting at library-banned levels, you'll get the attention of the little guy and then force yourself to remember 1 of the 15 or so commands you can give. Be sure to say them exactly as the app tells you, otherwise Vector gives up and can't understand you. After you give up on the honeymoon phase of 10-30 minutes, you'll be excited to watch him roam around your desk. That's until he finds and edge, recognizes it, then goes right back to it. Be careful if one whole side of him goes off the edge he will try to commit suicide by wiggling off the table. I don't blame him. The feature list was impressive but here's their real meaning: 4 array mics: be prepared to shout and repeat commands 4 edge sensors: he will recognize an edge then go back and somehow still fall. Color ips screen: ok this is the best thing, his animations are great but there's light spill around the bottom of the screen. Laser sensor: doesn't matter, he only sees obects about a milimeter before he runs into them HD camera: HD? My Nokia 3300 had a better resolution camera Cloud based: it will take, no joke, 5 seconds between three steps to ask what is the tallest building in the world Facial recognition: works great if you're the only face he needs to remember Capacitive touch panel: ok petting him for the first 3 times is ok but he doesn't do anything beyond purr and close his eyes each time. Please save your money and buy the cheaper Cozmo or and Echo Dot for $40 that does 1000 times more things in half the time.

    A Robot to Babysit

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The advertisement for this robot was a robot to life with, after purchasing Vector I have discovered that to be something you do not want to do at all. This little guy is autonomous which is a plus, but he isn't too smart. Constantly not being able to understand anything you say and no matter how many times you ask him the weather unless you include your location every single time well, you wont get any information at all. My Vector was rolling around and approached the edge and never missed a beat without hopping right off the side. That's not the only case of when he has done something he shouldn't have either. He is supposed to find his charger by himself, wrong! he will definitely knock it off the table he calls home and then sometimes he won't even attempt to go home before his battery drains and it leaves him stranded and lifeless on whatever edge he's decided to park himself on. The only reason I will give this a two star review is due to the build quality of the product and the mere effort put forth by Anki, It was worth a shot guys but try again later.

I bought one of these about two months ago. The company that makes them went belly up. When my vector broke recently I tried calling and emailing the company and never heard a response back. Luckily my local best buy gave me store credit for the issue...but best buy was still selling them even AFTER the company went bye bye....keep your money...he wasn't that interesting anyway....
