The film looks great, sounds great! Terrific premise. Unfortunately, there it did not live up to its potential. Too bad! Bought this one impulsively.

This movie starts out slow, but picks up after the leading character (Portman) and a crew of others set out to explore a phenomenon in the distance. Although what appears to be one take on the explorer's experience is replaced with a new take, the viewer has no clue as to what this phenomenon truly is. Certainly elements from former films exist; Mimic, passengers, Invasion of The Body Snatchers, etc., but this isn't as fresh as it is different. Very nice visuals.

I like a movie that wraps everything up at the end, all questions are answered, and the bad guys are appropriately punished. This isn't one of those movies. But, of course, that's me. It's science fiction so anything goes. It kept me interested from beginning to the end so there's that for it, but it left me hanging out there. Maybe there will be a sequel so I can see, in the words of Paul Harvey, the rest of the story.

seriously... some o the imagery on this movie is just nuts!!! the first time i watched this film i didn't like it. plus i didn't get it second time watching it i understood it more and so on and so forth by the fourth time movie made sense and some of the stuff was engraving itself in my mind, it was greatly crafter! the soundtrack is amazing! i rally enjoyed it since i listen to lots of electronic. the cgi is almost close to perfect. and that ending will have you asking questions over and over

Better the second time around. Another one of those movies that needs multiple views to really grasp it! Natalie Portman is still the best!

Not one of Natalie's best movie but a good movie. Not much of a story really slow to start and never gets any better till the end.

but strange interpretation of the novel it's based on. If I didn't read the trilogy I wouldn't have understood what was going on. Too much is left out & too bad this movie flopped at the box office. This movie never even made it to my local theater. I must say that it was a great looking movie with spectacular special effects. Reminds me of "Under The Skin" which was also a strange interpretation of the novel it was based on.

Natalie Portman leads an all female cast in a science fiction adventure. A meteor crashes to earth and creates a shimmer effect that starts to envelop everything in its path. Portman’s husband a military officer re-emerges from the shimmer and returns home but doesn’t remember what happened to him. As her husband falls ill Portman decides she must find out what happened to him and must go into the Shimmer to do it.

I'm going to be honest and id not know what I was about to see when I first entered the theatre. There was so much silence on what this film was about, I'm sure it made everyone curious when it first came out. Well I saw it, and what I found was a fantastic science fiction/horror movie. Natalie Portman once again demonstrates her leading lady status, but was joined by an all female strong cast. Michelle Rodrigues was also a stand out in the film. I can't get into too much of the film to spoil any surprises, however, just pick this one up, and sit back and enjoy, and remember, you are going to get your socks knocked off on this one.

Natalie Portman takes the lead in this SyFy adventure. The story depicts something is causing the duplication and evolution of the Eco system in a region. A team including Portman go into this zone to determine the cause. I bought it without having seen the movie, basically because it was 4K-HDR. I have to watch it again to see what I missed the first time. The 4K-HDR really enhances the new movie releases.

    Disappointing Sci-Fi Movie

Annihilation stars Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, and Tessa Thompson. I like sci-fi, so I expected to enjoy this movie. Unfortunately, the plot disappointed me. Many of the scenes were very dark, nighttime places. The cause of the problem was some unnamed, alien invasive force. If I could rewrite this movie, I would give it a better ending.

This movie is one of the best sci-fi movies ever made imo. Super smart, creepy and unnerving. With the current rise in women being moved to the forefront of film, both on screen and off, I have zero clue why this movie wasn't viewed by more people. It's literally women on screen nearly 100% of the time. I just can't say enough good things about this movie. The music (sometimes the lack thereof) and the sound design are spectacular. Just see this movie, I'll leave it at that.

This is not an ordinary sci-fi movie. I found the plot fascinating and original, with a very good cast and amazing effects. There are a couple of times where the pacing seems slow but overall I just LOVE this film. The last couple of scenes are unbelievable. I found the 4K at a great price (Best Buy price match is awesome) and replaced my original Blu Ray version. This will be watched again and again.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Natalie Portman once again delivers a great performance. This is very much a sci-fi film with some stunning visual elements. The storyline I thought was great as well. Some people will have an issue with the ending of the movie. Without giving any spoilers, the ending is left to the viewers imagination as to what they believe happened. If you are a viewer who needs a definitive closure to your flims, you may not like this film. However, if you are open-minded thinker and love sci-fi films, this movie is a must watch.
