Bought this UPS to install in my closet that houses my cable DVR, modem, switch, magicjack, network storage and etc. I needed a reliable backup power source to keep my equipment running during power outages. I have always used APC backup devices for over 35 years and have no problems with them except the normal battery replacement.

Have been using APC battery backups for years. They typically last 4 or 5 years until the battery goes south which isn't bad. Hopefully about the same with this one. Like the new look. 4 battery backup plugs and 2 additional surge protection plugs is plenty for me. Have my PC, monitor, printer, speaker system, laptop and home phone. So far so good with this one!

I only use it to backup the power supply of the internet router, It is good when the power is out, but when the voltage is fluctuating, it does not enter immediately unless the power is very low, by that time the router is already restarted.

      Hello,
We do apologize about this inconvenience. We at APC by Schneider Electric value your feedback and would like to help you with this concern.

BN450MNW UPS is set to transfer to onbattery mode on such occasions as to :
      1. Brown Out caused by power flickers
      2. Black Out when utility power is out
      3. Frequency Out Of Range
4 .Total Harmonic Distortion when input current is distorted from a sine wave

      Voltage Sensitivity Adjustment Procedure
By default, this sensitivity setting is set to Medium which can handle Input Voltage Range from 92VAC to 139VAC. This can be adjusted since this Back-UPS detects and reacts to line voltage distortions by transferring to battery backup power to help protect connected equipment. In situations where either the BackUPS or the connected equipment is too sensitive for the input voltage level, it is necessary
      to adjust the transfer voltage.

      To adjust voltage sensitivity:
      1. Turn off the UPS while connected to a wall outlet.
      2. Press and hold the POWER button for 10 seconds. The POWER button will illuminate green and red alternately to indicate that the Back-UPS is in Program mode.
      3. The POWER button will flash either green, amber, or red to indicate the current sensitivity level. Refer to the table for an explanation of the transfer voltage sensitivity levels.
      4. To exit Program mode wait five seconds and all LED indicators will extinguish. Program mode is no longer active.

LED: Green means Low Setting = 88VAC to 142 VAC
Use this setting with equipment that is less sensitive to fluctuations in voltage or waveform distortions.

LED: Red means Medium Setting = 92 Vac to 139 Vac
Factory default setting. Use this setting under normal conditions.

LED: Amber means High Setting = 96 Vac to 136 Vac
Use this setting when connected equipment is sensitive to voltage and waveform fluctuations.

I have this on a Mac Mini (SSD) + 27" Dell ultrathin. This adds up to 200-ish watts max consumpion which itself is pretty amazing. Running wattage more in the 120-ish range which should give 7 or 8 minutes to shut down and much longer if everything's sleeping.

FIOS customer with new gigabit capable ONT running at 50/50. New ONT no longer has an internal replaceable battery back up. Purchased this to power the ONT, wifi router and VOIP box in the event of a storm. First real storm with outpower going on now. Unit lasted 90 min before dying. I've had the device for 15 months. Not too bad! Was hoping for better but 90 min was good. Switch over was seamless as devices remained powered on. My area is prone to lightning strikes and I haven't had any equipment issues with the devices connected to this unit.

I bought 2 of these a few months ago to solve the problem of power glitches resetting my router and the DirecTV DVR/controller and Amazon Fire unit. These are so small they fit easily within the TV console or on the shelf with my WiFi router. Note that ONE of these would have been plenty for ALL devices but they are in different rooms.

This is a good enough battery backup. I only needed enough power to shut the system down in the event of a power outage or surge. I only have the computer on when I am home and do not need to use it when the power is off. This would not be the model for you if you use the computer during power outages. It would not have a large enough capacity
