I installed this to provide uninterrupted power and surge protection to our flat screen and cable box and cordless phone base. The power grid in our area has become more vulnerable to outages and brown outs. This device will not only protect these devices from being damaged by power spikes, it also allows us to use the tv and phone during an outage. Great investment in home protection.

Got these after a brown out caused all the wifi routers and cable modem to reboot. Seemed like a reasonable price of these to keep these devices powered on during short outages. So far no problems and they were easy to install.

These battery backup units are nearly necessary down in Florida, as we lose power a lot. I use ours for the Internet service and love the way it works. I cannot control when we do go dark, but this unit allows me to get to our thermostat and cameras inside our home there. I use up north at our house in Illinois, as it conditions the power going into our TV's and computers, without any bad spikes of power. These units have saved our electronics over the years and I will keep buying them.

We occasionally have blips of power just long enough to knock out wifi out. This little jewel does the trick. No more problems when the power blinks on and off. Have not had a long outage since purchasing to test its longevity but so far works great on short hits. The price was great for this item. Easy to set up, just plug it in. Outlets are labeled to show which provide what feature.

Shocking Letdown from APC : o

I've been buying APC battery backup units for 20 YEARS with good satisfaction until now. This unit was installed for my sister after her previous APC died in service. I could NOT believe my eyes with some of the cutbacks in this model. First, there is NO USB port to communicate with the PC tower. When left unattended, this unit will NOT be able to do a safe automated shutdown during a power outage! Unbelievable disappointment! Also, this is the first APC I bought with NO DOOR to simply replace the battery when the expected 3-5 years lifespan ends. Perhaps someone can fully disassemble this unit to replace the battery, but that is just awful compared to prior APC units. If this is on sale and you can live with those cutbacks, go for it. I'll now be looking at feature sets FAR more closely for any future battery purchases. Finally, there are 4 battery protected outlets well-spaced, and 2 surge only outlets too close for even the smallest of adapter blocks.

Power went out just this morning and I didn't know it until the internet went dead. I was able to save what I was doing before shutting everything down. The only up shot was the four clocks around the house that I had to reset. The unit did its job.

APC-Gack-UPS are all really good. I have been using them for my computers for many years and never had any problems with them. This one only has our water softiner on it and so far through two outages it has kept the water softiner going instead of it stopping and we have to go to the cellar, I mean cellar which is a door in the floor not just steps to get to it.

to put it simply this product does what it says it has around 200 watts of power which is great for my Wi-Fi modem this is great because I'm trying to do classes and I don't get kicked out when I'm on my laptop, although I will probably be buying a bigger one. in terms of features, it's pretty basic when the power goes out makes a buzzing sound so you know it's working, it also has two sets plug one that takes a battery and one that doesn't which is nice

Low priced but reliable APC UPS, has enough capacity to power my router, broadband modem and home NAS for several minutes after an outage and also provide surge suppression. The batteries are not replaceable but at this price point it's really a consumable product with about 3 years of life.

I just bought a rather high-end desktop computer, and missed the battery that laptops offered. They prevent damage and data corruption from under-voltage, sudden power loss, and even surges. This UPS was discounted by over 50% at time of purchase, and it runs well. I haven't tested it, but it should provide enough power to safely power down. Due to the lack of a data cable, I wouldn't feel comfortable using this for an extended duration on the battery. And while this isn't what the battery was made for, my computer stays on all day, thus a sudden power loss is still possible (though it may not cause damage). More expensive versions of this unit can tell the computer to shut down safely when reaching a certain threshold, via USB. For five stars, this unit should include a rudimentary solution to this, even if it makes the price somewhat higher. But overall, I am satisfied. If buying at full price, I would recommend getting the higher priced one with a USB cable, as it's not much more.

We bought these to protect our desktop and as a battery backup for my CPAP machine at night. The power in our neighborhood would go out every time the wind blows, so these came in really handy. Nothing you need to do except plug everything in!
