This time battery connection is easy (just an on-unit plug-in to complete the connection) and the unit seems most efficient. No power surges yet, but I'm sure my equipment (TV, etc. in living room, desktop in bf) is well protected. I bought a second one right away.

APC Back-up

This requires me to get under my desk to press the button. Not acceptable to me.

UPS when on battery commonly produces 4 beeps every 20 seconds unless there are other issue on it. It keeps my desktop, cable router, and cable box on during minor brown out and black out. My current PC can run about 15 minutes on backup power; plenty of time to save and shutdown. I also own an APC 1250 VA, that one is for the heavy 850 watts PC. In summary, I have been using APC since 1996. It is a good brand for backup power.
