The missing electricity is replaced with electricity from a lead acid battery which means there limitations on how long this unit will keep you functional. Plus, over a few years the capacity of the battery will diminish and need to be replaced.

This requires me to get under my desk to press the button. Not acceptable to me.

UPS when on battery commonly produces 4 beeps every 20 seconds unless there are other issue on it.
