May reason is for the Plex server, so files don't get corrupted due to playing when power goes out, instead if power does out it will have time to stop the media before an immanent shutdown happen.

My new $2K TV deserved the best so this was it. New battery connector external to the battery compartment is a nice improvement. Great deal at Best Buy as usual.

Unfortunately, this one has no communication port at all - but that is OK, as it is in use on a phone modem which it would not be able to communicate with anyway.
