A very easy solution to implement, and it is a good protection from data loss.

NOT for protecting a Computer or NAS.

Although this APC power supply works fine as designed, I can't recommend it for protecting a computer, and I returned it. The labeling on the box is poor, and you don't realize until you open it that the battery is really not replaceable, and even worse it has no USB port to connect to a computer. Thus, it has no way of communicating with a computer and telling it when it needs to shut down. This makes it useless for protecting a PC. Maybe fine for other non PC devices, but don't buy for your PC or NAS.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about our unit. You are correct that the UPS doesn't have the data port on to connect your PC to trigger a graceful shutdown. The battery is however replaceable now. We have made a kit that will allow you to replace the internal battery on it. The part number is APCRBCV211. In regards to not having the PC port on it, I recommend checking out our BackUPS Pro line since it has more options for graceful shutdown. APC

I've bought multiple of these units in the past, 2 out of 3 batteries have gone bad within just a couple years. The worst part is, APC doesn't allow you to MUTE the alarm if it's because the battery has been degraded. You have to power down the entire unit and reset it. Absolutely predatory feature designed to make your life such a hassle that you are forced to buy a new unit. I'm gonna try Cyberpower instead, I've heard better things about that brand

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. The replace battery alarm isn't able to muted because then you could potentially miss that the battery needs replaced in the UPS. If the battery is depleted in the UPS then it wouldn't be available in the event of a power outage. APC

It works well ... after you give it the initial 24 hour charging period. Directions to change the "alarms" on it are very difficult to get through. It is definitely overpriced but I was in a pinch.

Bad unit out of the box

Long time APC user here. Just at 3 months of owning the unit and a random power blip proved the unit was actually bad from the start. Power had hiccupped a couple of times prior and the unit had tripped and went to red pilot light/beeping each time, Only recovery was to unplug from the wall and let it sit for a few minutes before reconnecting. My bad for not digging deeper into it. This last time the power stayed off for a few minutes and the UPS started it's odd behavior only to not recover even after disconnecting it from the wall for a few minutes following power restoration. Long story longer, I tested the batter with my VOM and found the voltage fluctuated from 0V to 7.97V to 7.24V to 0V all within seconds. Recorded this for the record. Got in touch w APC support staff and they were great, replacement unit arrives tomorrow and the return shipping label is already in my inbox. Still an APC-faithful user, a single incident is not going to run me off, but this should he been caught at the QC stage. RATINGS ARE BASED UPON THIS UNIT ONLY,

[Employee of bestbuy] I have only 2 things plugged into it, my PC and one of my monitors, and every 2-3 weeks the alarm starts going off indicating it lost power, which it didn't, or that it's experiencing a battery failure. And this started withing the first few weeks of owning it. Manufacturer support said there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with it but I could send it in to get serviced. It might just be a bad unit right out of the box, and I know that's usually rare, but I'm just going to buy a better model to be safe. Other copies of the same device probably don't have this issue, but mine does, and it's very aggravating when it goes off and I have to shut my PC down in the middle of work just to reset it to get the alarm to shut up.

Does not last long at all. I am not sure what can you put after you loose power. This is definitely not it. I changed to there bigger battery and that definitely worked. Laptop with this particular one i do not recommend

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. The runtime would depend on on how much power the laptop draws. There is a chance that the laptop is pulling more power than expected. The BVN650M1 would provide around 2 minutes of runtime at full load, 360 watts. At half load, 180 watts, it would provide around 10 minutes of runtime. APC

Back ups does not have an automatic shutdown cable capability for a computer. If you are not home to shut down the system the battery could run out of power and the ensuing power loss could damage your computer or damage data. it does however have a USB charging port just where you don't needed under your desk! what a wonderful useless feature.

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I apologize that the BVN650M1 doesn't have the option to provide a graceful shutdown of the connected system. If you are looking for a model in a similar size that has that option you could check out the BN650M1 instead. APC
