In the first couple of days of owning this battery back up, it has already come in handy and saved me hours of possible unsaved work and unfinished downloads. I have my Desktop, 1 Monitor (primary), Modem, Router, and PS4 connected to the battery backup + surge protector outlets as these are the most used items at my desk in my home office. The other two outlets (surge protector only) are being used by my second Monitor and window AC Unit. At around 6 PM the power went out due to rolling power outages due to a heat wave and luckily I had the battery back up set up. My computer was on, my PS4 was downloading a new game, and my primary monitor was on stand by mode. When the power went out, the battery back up kicked in right away and I was able to save all my files on my PC, shut off the power, and move over to the PS4 to cancel the download and shut off correctly so it would not corrupt the hard drive. On top of that, my internet kept running because my router and modem are both connected to the back up. This allowed me to continue using wifi calling, browse the web to find out if the outage was regional, and kept my family content watching their streaming content on their shows without taking up phone data. This back up is already something worth acquiring!

    Reliable Batter backup

I've used an APC UPS on all of my desktop pcs for years. This is an updated model of a product I already own, and it functions exactly as you'd expect There are 5 outlets with battery backup (2 spaced for bulky plugs), 2 standard surge protected outlets, and a USB type a port. I have my desktop pc,2 monitors, modem/router/ and speakers plugged into the battery backup outlets, and two other devices plugged into the surge protected only ports. I have a type-a to type-c cable plugged into the USB port for convenient charging, but unfortunately this port doesn't support fast charging, but whatever it's still a nice bonus. There's not much else to say really, this isn't an exciting product, but if you value your hardware and data it's an absolute necessity. The things I love about the APC units are their reliability and their warranties. The UPS has a 3 year manufacturer warranty and a lifetime protection warranty on anything you plug into it - up to a total value of 75k. This is the peace of mind I require in a UPS and APC has always been my go-to over other/flashier models. It would be nice to have PC connectivity to manually control settings, but the single button is very easy to use. I set mine to operate silently out of the box. I live in an area with frequent severe thunderstorms (don't we all these days) and power outages are fairly common. Common enough that the last thing I want is to be wakened by the horrible beeping of the UPS when battery power takes over. It's got the feature set that I, and the majority of consumers, need and it just works. My only complaint is that the USB port doesn't support fast charging in 2020, which is crazy, but it's not a deal breaker.

I live in an older house, that is prone to the lights going out and even an inkling of bad weather. The worst thing is the amount of time it takes for my internet to come back up, even if the lights only flickered for a bit. Enter this 7 outlet APC surge, and backup device. Since I’ve now moved to working from home now, my workstation going down was also a major concern for me. I was able to plug up my work computer, my router, personal laptop, google home, and my smart lightbulb hub all at once, and comfortably. I wanted to really test it out, and since there were no storms n the radar I used the circuit breaker to emulate an outage. All of my devices, and most importantly my router and work computer didn’t even flicker when I cut the power. I left the power off for about 2 hours and also plugged my phone up to the unit. When I came back, everything was still powered, as well as my phone charged. This is a pretty decent device that leaves you confident to weather any storm.

I have had this back up battery/Surge protector for several days and have found it to work as advertised. The device has 5 battery and surge outlets, two surge outlets and one USB input for charging a phone. The device is big about the size of a brick and weighs about 2 - 3 lbs. Upon unpacking the device I plugged it in and attached the yellow battery connector in the back of the unit. You can program the unit to adjust voltage sensitivity, green red or amber light on the power button, indicating low medium or high sensitivity. I disconnected power and the unit immediately went into the alarm mode, the green light flashing green as it should. All my devices were charging as they normally would. This unit appears to work as advertised and I would recommend it to anyone needing a battery back up and/or a surge protector in case of a power outage.

I live in a small studio. Unfortunately, if we have too many electronics connected, the power fuse safety switch turns on, and we lose power. It has happened several times. I would be working on my computer then all of a sudden the power is out. I got this product because of the surge protection and back up. Mostly for my work computer and router. The power went out, and then I heard a sound. It was the back-up battery taking over. I still had my internet and computer working. I didn't wait to see how long the battery will last since I immediately went back to turn on the fuse box switch back on. Overall the product worked as advertised. The power went out, and my computer and router were still working. I never purchased these types of products, but I will definitely buy some new ones for my other electronics. I highly recommend it.

    Power through a blackout

I used to use an old APC battery backup for my desktop computer, monitor and printer, but since moving entirely to laptops, I didn’t think I needed a UPS anymore. After all, the laptop has its own battery to get me through a short power outage, right? That’s true, but these days it’s hard to do much without an internet connection, and that’s what ultimately convinced me to pick up the APC Back-UPS 650VA. It provides a simple battery backup for the equipment that needs to keep running, even when there’s no power. The Back-UPS 650VA features 7 outlets and one USB port. 5 of the outlets are backed up by the battery, and all of them feature surge protection. I got this unit to power my modem, router, VOIP phone and outside cameras. My hope is to continue to be able to use my computer and internet, even if I’m without power temporarily. Setup is easy enough, consisting only of plugging in a connector that activates the power flow to/from the battery. Think of this as an upgraded version of the piece of tape that many consumer electronics use to prevent the battery from discharging before you even open the package. After that, plug it into the wall outlet and start plugging in your devices. Here's where I had to take away a star. The unit is compact, but maybe a little too compact. Many of today’s electronics feature a power brick, or “wall wart” that includes a square or rectangular plug-in. This means that, for most of them, you can’t put two such plugs side by side in this UPS because the outlets on the unit are too close. I had to resort to adding small extension cords to alleviate the crowding. I get that they wanted a compact unit, but this one is not even as long as many surge protectors, so I think it could have been a little longer, allowing for wider spacing between outlets. The unit features the ability to change how and when it beeps. The default setup was fine for me, so I did not have a need to change it, but it’s good to know that I could do that if needed. It also supports a voltage sensitivity adjustment, which allows you to vary the level of voltage drop-off that needs to occur before the battery kicks in. I didn’t have a need to use this, but it’s helpful to know that it’s there in case you need it. So, does it work? I pulled the plug on the unit and my connected devices continued working without a hitch. I liked that it doesn’t beep initially while on battery power, but will beep when the power drops below 20%. My previous UPS would beep every few seconds as soon as your house lost power. That’s pretty annoying, but I think the UPS category has come a long way since then. This unit provides several hours’ worth of power, allowing you to finish what you’re working on, and hopefully getting you through until the power comes back on. While I did like the compact size because it fits discreetly behind my couch, I do wish it was a little longer to accommodate larger plugs. Other than that, I’m quite happy with the Back-UPS unit from APC.

    Security for Power Outage

This APC UPS is great. It's a compact size, has 7 outlets, 5 of them with battery backup. Set up was easy, insert the battery in the back, plug it in and push the button. You do have to press the button for a few seconds to get it on, it will beep once, turn green and you're good to go! This is a great addition for anyone who wants to make sure they still have internet or some other power when the electricity goes out. You can adjust the alarm settings but the default settings seem fine to me. The manual tells you how much power-time you can get for the items that you have plugged in. This is a great gadget to have and I know I'll be happy I have it the next time there's a power outage.

Very good price and purchase. Since the hot weather has cause short power outages , twice now - the unit has performed. The best thing is that the battery is in vertical position - i replaced one that had it horizontal and there was acid leakage. Problem solved.

I have been using these for over 10 years. I needed a second one and didn't feel it was worth the extra money on the more costly ones with extra features and led readout. This still alerts you to outages and does what you need it to. Supply immediate power when there is an outage protecting your devices from surges. Works great.

I’ve used Back-UPS for many years & am partial to APC. They always shine in quality & dependability. This 650VA 7-outlet unit doesn’t disappoint. It’s an economical choice with enough outlets to protect all the basics for home or office. I’m able to plug in my PC, monitor, printer, scanner, speakers & calculator. We have new on-going construction nearby & lose power every other week or so. Having a battery backup has become an absolute necessity. I happened to be nearby when we lost power the last time. I heard the APC unit start beeping & it gave me plenty time to save my open work, close all my programs & shut down properly. Nightmare averted! I’m sure this will also extend the life of my equipment with all the power surges we experience. The only negative: Due to large plugs on a couple of cords, I lose the ability to utilize all 7 outlets. The outlet spacing is stretched on one end, but not enough to accommodate more than one large plug. You’ll want to take in inventory of your cords & plugs when deciding which unit to select.

The APC Back-UPS 650VA unit is another solid product from a trusted source of quality uninterruptible power supplies. This model is effective for smaller computers using <400W power supplies. The UPS comes with a communication cable to allow the unit to talk to the MAC/PC and shutdown the computer safely should a blackout occur. The PowerChute software does a great job of controlling the UPS and also will perform periodic testing of the unit. I am using the UPS on a Synology NAS and it works great. While the PowerChute software doesn't install on the NAS, the NAS does recognized the UPS and communicates with it directly. Overall, a great little UPS from APC. Comes highly recommended if you have a lightweight need.
