Perfect for Short Power Outages
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The router provided by my Internet service provider can be a real pain to reconnect after a brief power outage. That makes a battery back-up unit critical to avoid annoying disconnects and reconnects. This model is a solid option for folks with this concern. The battery can keep your router up and functional for over 4 hours. And in an emergency, there is a USB port provided that will allow you to charge your phone. This unit is affordable and multi-purpose, allowing your devices to be protected from surges (all 7 outlets perform this function), and also providing the battery back-up (5 of the 7 outlets). If you have somewhat frequent power outages and it is critical that you remain online, definitely consider this Battery Back-UPS.

Does it's job very well
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This APC battery back-UPS is just what you need if you'd like to keep your network equipment up and running during a power outage. Right after I received this unit, we had a series of storms that rolled through over 3-4 nights. My house is prone to lose power since it's in the woods, and although the outages are usually only a hour or so at the most, it's annoying. Sure enough, the power went out the first night I had this new unit, but this time I didn't have to make a judgement call as to whether I should fire up the generator (usually if I do that, the power is back on before I get back in the house), because the UPS kept the modem, router, and security camera base station working for about 1.5 hrs until the power was restored, allowing me to stay connected to the internet with my laptop the whole time. l was even able to charge my phone at one point because I didn't want it going below 30%. Set up was a snap, and it blends in with the other items it powers, so it's not an eye-sore. I'm quite pleased with this product so far.

Protect your investment
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this for protecting my longer quilting machine. Worth it to protect a machine I use as part of my small business from harmful electrical surges. The battery backup also allows me time in a power outage to save my project and power down so I don’t lost my project.

Works as advertised - just not perfectly
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned a number of these devices over the years. There's not much that has changed; invariably the batteries wear out; and you find the cost of replacement is just not worth it. The manual for the 650 states that the battery is NOT user replaceable, that makes it a disposable item. Better to get a new device anyhow; so that aspect of it doesn't make much difference to me. One feature I did appreciate off the bat is the inclusion of a battery connect/disconnect plug. Previously, one would have to do a partial disassembly of the unit to put it in operating condition - so thanks for making that task a little easier. I do have two issues with the unit though. The first is - it smells! This is an issue that is not unique to APC though, and the manufacturer's claim is that the odor dissipates or "burns off" after a short period of use. Well, in my opinion, "short period" is kind of dependent on the sensitivity of your sense of smell. The other issue is the use of a single button. The one power button not only controls on/off, but also programming mode depending on whether you hold the button down for more or less than 2 seconds. There should at least be one additional button for silence as most UPS's provide. There is one other thing not specific to this unit, but to all lower end UPS supplies. I have a home generator. The generator operates on 63 cycles - normal utility power is 60 cycles. Whenever I lose power, the generator cuts in automatically, and at that point, all my UPS's will refuse to charge & start beeping - they look at it as "dirty power." So during an extended outage, they become basically useless, and I have to unplug any device attached to them. It has to do with the sinewave of the electricity, suffice it to say if you want a UPS that charges on generator power, you need to invest a heck of a lot more dollars - most start in the $300-$500 range and go up from there. All that said, this unit performed as designed, I would've just appreciated a separate mute button and a little less fragrance. And if you want one with a replaceable battery - it's not this model.

No problem! Go to Best Buy and purchase another APC Back UPS! Reliable choice for simple battery backup
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.APC makes a very robust and reliable battery backup system with a very good array of power ports for power supplies and regular corded devices. Easy to use. Important to estimate how much time and/or how many devices you would want to stay online during an outage.

Great product!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great price for the piece of mind. I use this to supply power to my 27" iMac, printer, lamp, phone charger, docking station, etc.... I love that this model has an additional USB outlet and how many normal outlets there are. This allows me to power everything I need for my desk, and gives me the ability to provide unlimited power supply to most of the items plugged in! I have several APC devices, and will continue to buy APC for my battery backup surge protectors!

Great for small devices
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Using this to just keep my internet connections powered in case of an outage. Came in handy a couple of days after I put it in, our power went out due to construction in the neighborhood for almost an hour. As soon as the power went out, I heard the reassuring click of the battery taking over and I was able to continue working. Great product as usual by APC.

Works great!!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because my wife and I both work from home and are often on conference calls. Unfortunately we live in an area prone to power outages. We have a stand-by generator, but when the power switches from grid to generator, our modem and router have to fully restart. Within 3 days of buying this the power flickered on and off a few times but the internet kept chugging right along. This was a great purchase!!!

||Posted . Purchase was quick and out of the door in minutes. The unit itself was quick to set up and start using. I have had no issues with it during normal use or when I lost utility power recently.

||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works like a dream. Easy setup and only concern was plug setup. Several devices such as routers modems, etc. have the long plugs and cover other ports. Had to purchase some short extenders. No different to other
