    Excellent protector of expensive equipment

I lose power occasionally, so I like to have a battery back-up system so that I don't lose my work. I have enough time to save my work and properly shut down my computer before it crashes. I also have my printer plugged into the battery back-up so I can finish printing the page and saving the rest until the power comes back on. It also protects computers, printers, televisions and other small appliances from power surges. A strong thunderstorm recently passed through my area and hit a power pole near my home. Because I have several back-up systems around my house, I lost none of my expensive equipment.

I bought this for a NAS I was putting together (Synology 418) and wanted it to allow the Synology to be able to shut down without crashing in case of a power outage. This is where my main files are going to live. Not only does it take up little space, but it's able to support several other devices at the same time. And when I plugged in the USB Cable, the Synology detected it and had all the right settings so it can tell the NAS that the power is out and it's time to shut down in an orderly way. If you don't have a high-wattage need for a UPS, this is a great one to use!

Good back up for the price and usage. My neighborhood for whatever reason gets frequent power blips. My cable provider does a better job. By using this with my router, I can at least maintain reliable productivity. I also plug in my NAS, which ensures it has a chance for proper shutdown, lowering data corruption risks. I made the mistake of using a lower priced backups from competitors in the past, which is why I trust APC (using two other UPS for desktops in separate locations in the home).

This is the newer line of APC UPS and the form factor is good, but depends on your application. It is taller than their old design, but smaller foot print on the floor. It has 5 battery outlets and only 2 surge only outlets and this could be a pro or con depending on what you want/need. The battery is user replaceable, but as of now it seems to be a non-standard size battery. I assume it will become a standard size once these have been out for a few years and people start needing to replace the batteries. I just hope the replacement batteries will be a reasonable price and available from 3rd party sellers. The USB charging port is a nice feature to charge cell phones or mobile devices and should be an easy way to keep users from plugging them directly into PC USB ports. These are still wall mountable, which I find a nice feature. However, the template that is in the manual is not to scale so you will have to make your own or measure carefully to get the screws in the right place.

My old unit (different brand) battery died and replacement not available. Never had that problem with APC UPS's. This unit is compact, not too heavy, has sufficient VA for low load network components and although maybe a bit too close together, has enough outlets.

With the onset of Hurricane Florence, I decided I'd better be as proactive as I could, given my budget and necessary gadgets. I thought we would loose electricity for sure, since I sometimes do even with a storm, much less gale force winds for a sustained amount of time. I wanted to make sure I had backup power for our phones. I already had a battery powered charger that was good for two charges. So, I used the APC to keep that charger charged, and that would buy me some more time. Now that the storm has come and gone, it helps me, still. The computer room stays lit up like a Christmas tree at night. So, I plug the peripherals into a power strip and smart plug. I then plug the cordless phone into the APC, which keeps it operative. Charging pad is hooked to it also and keeps my cell phones charged. Smart plug takes everything offline at 10 pm and back on at 5:30 am. Then the APC re-charges when the power comes back on. This just works out really well for me.

Love APC products. They are very reliable. And this UPS is a great bargain both for price and features. Love that it’s not huge but rather a tiny footprint size packed with lots of features.

The power has not gone out so I have not tested this yet, but the fact that it doubles as a battery back up and surge protecrot with multiple outlets is nice. Happy with it for the price.

    In Case of Power Failure...

A friend strongly recommended that I get a GOOD battery backup system for my computer/wifi system. What's the point, he said, of having all those computers, tablets, and phones if you have no way to use them to communicate with others in the event of a power failure due to a storm or other disaster. I looked at reviews and also talked to the sales rep at Best Buy. He was very helpful in helping me ascertain what size backup I'd need based on what I thought I'd want to do in case of a power failure. So it's set up. Everything plugged in and ready to go. I'll come back and give it five stars if it works as advertised when the next power failure occurs!

So far so good been a few months in use and had one power outage. I have this hooked up to a onkyo receiver, LG 65inch OLED TV, WiFi router and modem, Xbox one, and an xfinity box. The backup unit can keep all these equipments powered for quite a long time with everything powered on at the same time I mainly use this just for an emergency power outage so I have time to properly shut everything off Incase of a storm or power outage and not worry about improper voltage cutoff and preventing the xfinity WiFi and cable to reset because it takes quite sometime for it to restart and work again when the power goes out.

Initial specs looked good but this unit actually has less backup time available during a power outage than the the unit I was going to replace it with. I’ll use it for some secondary systems. That said, it was easy to unpack and get set up. Any UPS is better than nothing at all. It is a good value for the price but with routers becoming more powerful and using more “power” to cover more bands and larger areas more a more robust UPS will provide what may be critical moments to complete work and shut down during a power failure.

I'm working in a new location and this has already earned its keep. I plugged it in one outlet in a room, and found out that the outlet had bad wiring (from the lights on the unit). I thought the unit was bad, until I located it in another location. As power instability is a definite in this house, I hear it beeping during the day as I'm working. Been a peace of mind product since day one. Small, compact. I have to get another one as with two pcs and other equipment I'm already on an extension cord too ... I will definitely buy the same device because its footprrint is friendly - small in size and easy to locate at the desk.

I would buy this again due to its size. I am able to hide the UPS beside a desk leaving minimal space between the desk and wall. The power button is a bright green light that is noticeable in the dark. I used 1ft power cable extensions for plugs that were too big .

I stretch this device to the limits.... and I have been glad I have it. I have three of these. Two run computers, but the third I keep with my 4K TV. I don’t expect it to keep my devices up for long, but it does kee things up long enough that I can turn stuff off and unplug devices as needed. I had so many devices that were burnt out not from blackout or brownouts, but from the surge after the power came back on. These devices have helped smooth out the peaks and valleys with the power in the area and I can’t imagine my set up without them.

Once I knew how inexpensive it is to have a surge protector with battery backup, I made sure all of my electronics were connected to one. Living in Florida, power surges happen all the time. Not only are they bad for your equipment, but having to reboot all the time is irritating. For less than $100, worth every penny and eliminates the need for a separate power strip. Just don't try to daisy chain them. I've read that doing so is bad for the amount of power running to each outlet.

I get a new UPS every 2-3 years and this one is one of the nicest. I especially like the fact that it beeps and flashes when I over load it. I plugged in a printer in by mistake and it flashed and complained when I printed something, telling me it was being overloaded. NICE! I quickly moved it to the Surge Only plug and it works great. I even got a second one for my other machine. Very happy with them!

This APC UPS was very easy to setup with my NAS Server. The Synology unit I collected it to immediately recognized it. We use the much larger APC SMT units at my job and they have been reliable in keeping our Business Server and Network gear running just fine. I have used the APC PowerChute software communicate to APC devices at works well, but did not do that here on the unit I bought. Highly recommend this small UPS unit and the PowerChute Software.

UPS bckups are good. I've had many over the years. I like their more vertical look now. The others took up too much space. This one is good because it has more backup and surge plugs than just surge. Too bad it looks like it's being discontinued by Best Buy or the manufacturer. It will do you good if you bought it, and they do work well. I do live in an area with a lot of outages and power surges, and have never (so far) had an electrical thing fry while hooked up to one of these. Take it for that.

I bought this item for the battery backup feature. I recently had a power outage in my area, but didn't notice as my router and modem were connected to the unit. It lasted for about 10 minutes before I realized the power was off.
