The outlets are well spaced for "power bricks" and unit has a USB port for charging phone/tablet. The USB monitoring cable is a bonus. Ubuntu immediately picked up the UPS and now shows a battery indicator in the system tray. I have not tested full battery run-time yet, but it has plenty of juice to allow safe shutdown.

He found it confusing, too, especially as it relates to my Mac computer. However, once set up, it appears to be working fine.

I once tried another brand and was disappointed so I went back to APC. Stick with this brand and you wont be disappointed. I Purchased this model because it has a replaceable battery. The model below the 650 does not have a replaceable battery so when it dies you have to buy a whole new unit instead of just buying a new battery.
