Good Unit

This unit would also come with a 3 year manufactures warranty which would cover the battery. Not Suitable For Intended Use - Defective
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First blip on the power line and it turns the power off to everything plugged into it. The alarm sounds but it does not go to battery backup. If I push the button to kill the alarm and then push it again it comes back on.It has done this 3 times in the past two weeks. The "battery backup" function does not kick in Now, if I simply unplug it while operating it works fine and the battery backup function kicks it. Apparently it does not like blips or fluctuations. Of course it did this 10 days after the Best Buy return period. I will not spend the time or money to box this thing up and ship it back to APC. I will save the battery as a spare for one of my other APC products and this thing is going in the dumpster. DO NOT waste your money on this defective design. There was a reason it was on sale.

I would try disconnecting the power cord and internal battery then hold the power button for around 10 seconds. Once this done reconnect the internal battery and power cable then turn that the unit back on. If this does not clear up the issue please reach out to an APCbySchneider support team. Would have liked a few more plugs

Can't trust it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After owning this for only 10 days, I turned on for the first time a printer that was plugged into the "Surge and Battery" portion of the UPS. Suddenly, the entire UPS shut down, causing the computer and monitor to shut down as well. Then the thing began beeping loudly and frequently. I got the beeping to stop somehow, and then I tried the same thing again. Same thing happened. In otrher words, the UPS caused my computer to turn off rather than stopping it from turning off! Then I plugged the printer into the "Surge" portion of the UPS, and tried turning it on again. This time, the printer came on, and the computer and monitor stayed on. Now, I have only two devices plugged into the "Surge and Battery" portion -- the computer and the monitor. I don't have the guts to test the thing by turning off a circuit breaker. I have no trust in this device. I have not called tech support because my overall experience with tech support in general is that it's better for one's blood pressure to regard money as being thrown away rather than try to return things, etc. etc.

We do not typically recommend connecting printers to the battery connected outlets, for the exact reason you described. Printers will draw so much more power when first powered on and while printing, that it can be easy to overload the UPS. Was a great concept

Everything but large kitchen items are connected to surge protectors.better safe then sorry. According to apc support I’m aloud to connect this unit to a surge protector, so I did. Everything worked fine untill we had a good thunderstorm and the lights just flickered for a split second. The unit starts beeping pretty loud. The reset isn’t blown and the only thing connected to the battery back up unit is a PS4, a modem and router. And yet the unit fried while connected to a rocket fish surge protector of 4800+ jolts That’s also connected to a in wall surge Protector that will handle 5280 jolts. I got the back up surge only to keep my internet running if power went out and to keep my PS4 from randomly restarting with a power flicker so no damage to the system. And the battery unit fried with a flicker that did not even shut off my tv or reset any of the clocks in the kitchen like the oven. If you read this far. Buy a different brand.

We do not recommend doing this because it can compromise the ground connection which the UPS needs in order to provide adequate surge protection. 4 1/2 Months
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered this January 3, 2018, and as of May 23, 2018, it is dead. I went to the APC website, but you cannot order a new battery for it currently, which, to me, infers there was an inherent problem with the unit. I have at least 8 active APC units (earlier models) in my house, and the batteries typically last 3-5 years. I have tried unplugging all devices from the unit, unplugging the unit, the battery and the 5 second reset. The end result is always the same: the power button flashes green a few seconds, then goes off and then it emits a continuous, solid beeeeeeeep. I will check into using the warranty, and if it is cost effective to UPS the unit back for service. I haven't found the APC website particularly easy to navigate, and it does not have weekend or extended contact times. I will still purchase APC back-ups in the future, but I will avoid this model for a year or two!

Good for a short period

The good news was that APC replaced the product with very few questions. Even providing a stepped up product to replace the defective item. Overall the product gets two stars but service from APC five stars.

Not that great

UPS Broken Out-of-the-Box

When I picked it up from the store after buying it online from bestbuy.com it was kind of suspicious looking. The box was sealed in a sloppy way with packing tape. Sure enough, when I opened it after coming home, broken plastic parts fell out of it. I returned it the next. I don't think think it was the manufacturer's fault. I think it's Best Buy's fault. It's most likely retuned damaged by previous customer but Best Buy employee simply taped it back up & put on shelf.

USED

The box was not even properly taped up. I did the curbside pickup (lessons learned!!) so didn't see until I got home. Going to return this. Bad business practices at this Fort Lauderdale store. If it were priced and marked as 'open box' that would be one thing, but it was sold as new and it's definitely not new. In fact, it doesn't even turn on at all. Returning.
