Customers are delighted by the Back-UPS Pro's long battery life, ease of use, and strong performance. Many appreciate the clear LCD screen and the ample number of outlets, along with the inclusion of USB Type-C and Type-A ports. However, some users noted the unit's weight and reported minor issues with the software and occasional noise. The warranty process also received mixed feedback.

I use this APC Back UPS Pro 1500VA to protect a workstation, router, PoE switch and NVR, and a small NAS. Setup took minutes: connect the battery, run a self test, and it was ready. The LCD is clear and useful, showing voltage, load, and runtime, and the AVR keeps brownouts from touching my gear. During a recent outage it kept my network and NAS up for about 50 minutes at roughly 90 to 110 watts, and my desktop alone gets about 12 to 15 minutes which is enough to save work and shut down cleanly.
I have purchased several of these for my home office and for client sites because they are consistent and reliable. The 10 outlets are well laid out with 5 battery and 5 surge, and the front USB C and USB A are handy for topping off a phone or headset. The replaceable battery makes it a good long term value. It is quiet in daily use and the fan only spins while charging hard.
Minor nitpicks: it is heavy, and I would like one more battery backed outlet or a second USB C. Otherwise this is a fantastic UPS that delivers peace of mind. Highly recommended for home office, creators, and small security setups.

This APC UPS provides my gaming PC and monitors with up to 25 minutes of backup power in low use mode. Plenty of time for safe shutdown. Get the APC software to schedule/trigger auto shutdown based on the battery available. I love the number of ports available and the setup was fairly easy (even to hook up the un connected battery). The LCD screen is clear and shows the remaining battery level.
I have experienced a day with heavy wind and fluctuating voltages and this worked like a charm switching between AC and battery. No lag and PC stayed online. Overall, with the buy but could be cheaper.

Has been working great so far and I was worried that it would turn on during a power outage without me knowing, but it made it very clear that it works during a recent power outage. It makes a loud beeping noise to let you know that the power has gone out which I would not have known since the lights were off at the time. Also it is very easy to use with a power button, mute button (necessary in my opinion), and a display switch. Just remember to connect the battery.

We have been using the APS systems of this size for a number of years. They redesign the front panel and displays, but the quality for us remains good.
Our studios have (2) full racks of equipment in our transmitter room, and each one is protected by APC. (see in lower left of attached pictures. ) In our case, this latest unit is deployed to protect our AM processing, stereo Automatic Gain Control, system monitor, and metering. It gives us plenty of run time should our generator not kick in quickly in a grid outage.
We should note that one of the reasons we choose the APCs is for their automatic voltage regulating circuits, not JUST the backups. When you buy a unit with AVR, sensitive electronics are protected from the slightest overage or underage which can affect them. Also, contrary to some beliefs, when you know the total wattage you will use and have a rack system like we do, many of the units are low-wattage/low consumption, and it IS okay to use a long bench-style power strip to distribute more power UP through the rack if the supplied amount of outlets is not enough on the APC UPS. Note I didn't say a second surge protector, rather just a long multi-outlet strip that can serve items in the top of the rack. This gives us more protected outlets for fans, small signal amplifiers, USB devices, etc.
APC is being utilized in all our studios and this particular unit in our engineering department with no problems. The ONE time we had an issue with an in-warranty UPS, they shipped one to us right away with no issue, which is why we keep the factory check paperwork attached to each one for date of manufacture and test info should we be asked.
You won't go wrong with these units, or others from APC of similar build.

Excellent 1500VA UPS. I use it to keep the internet modem, router, and switch running when the power goes out. I only load it to 21 watts, so I get 3 hours of run time to keep the wireless internet running off battery. Has USB on the front for charging your phone. You can connect it to a Windows PC using the APC software to further configure it. If you have sensitive electronics, you can set it to be more sensitive for brown outs or when the line voltage drops just a little. Default sensitivity is medium, but you may want it set to more sensitive for computer equipment or internet routers. Runs quiet. After a power outage, will recharge within a day. Easy to replace battery from side panel. Display shows how many estimated minutes you have on battery based on your current power usage. This is the reason I got this one. Also easily displays current battery charge amount.

Anyone who owns tech needs this. My area is prone to brown outs and black outs. Before I bought this, the power outages ruined my router, actually causing a burnt out port. I vowed to not get a new router until I had something to protect it. I ended up buying two of these. One is for my modem, router, and my son's school laptop. The other one sits in my living room, protecting my husband's expensive computer, Xbox series X, and our TV. When the power goes out, the battery lasts for 180 minutes. The back offers just surge ports and battery + surge ports, and plenty of each. Do yourself a favor: invest in this to protect your expensive tech.

APC is the industry standard because of its reliability. I am a software engineer so having backup and protection to keep my computers safe it's critical. I currently have one of these for each of my desktops so I total of two. This one I bought is protection for my Starlink internet and Eero router system.

If you do anything with electronics then you know that this is the standard when it comes to battery backups. First off, you can easily access the batteries when the time comes to replace them by simply sliding the panel off without any tools. Second, the interface on it is easy to understand and tells you exactly what you need to know about your electrical connection, load, and run time on battery. Lastly, it has USB ports on the front face that are very convenient to use for any devices you might have that need a power source and doesn't require an additional plug on the back. Very easy to use and I've installed hundreds of them. This is the one and I always get it at Best Buy!

I purchased this unit after the "other brand" let me down and cost me a desktop and other devices when it failed. The many features this device offers is what drew me to it. The voltage fluctuation recording ability and software to manage settings and the ability for it to shut your pc down properly in the event of a power outage were the two biggest. I've paired it with a dedicated circuit for my pc and a whole home surge suppressor. It's a not too large which is a pro and con. If you have a lot of devices utilizing transformers, you won't be able to utilize every receptacle and will need a second surge suppressor strip. The coaxial and ethernet surge support provides complete protection. Very happy with this purchase so far.

My wife and I work from home most of the time. My wife is office manager and I am a software consultant and developer. As a developer I save lots of design dos from clients and need to be confident they are safe and my backup systems are protected. I recently expanded my network adding a NAS storage for backup and then I felt a need to protect everything on the net. So I started looking for a UPS. The APC Back-UPS was perfect for my system. It was easy to setup and configure. and has been running smooth for almost a month. I feel very confident and protected from an outage and the time between lights out and generator start.

Compatible with usb c chargers for our iPhone and usb lightning cable for our iPads. You can connect up to 10 devices to protect against surges and outages. It’s excellent protection against Florida weather and it doesn’t take up much space like our previous one

This thing is pretty nice. I can’t say anything negative about it really... Only a few issues of personal preference. I wish it were horizontally oriented because it’s too tall to fit properly in the space I’ve designed for it. I had to lay it flat on its side. I wish all the sockets on the back were “battery + surge” I believe 4 of the outlets are surge protection only (not battery). I have my entire home theater system plugged to it; which consists of
1 65” OLED tv, one 900 watt AV receiver
Two Definitive super towers with built in powered subwoofers, PS4, Nintendo switch, wireless router, HDMI switch box, and some other stuff. It has USB-C on the front which comes in handy during an outage for charging a phone or other small devices. On battery backup mode with the sound system on moderate volume, I can get about 10 minutes of run time. That’s excellent for a small battery. It gives me just enough time to save my game, and safely shut the system down. That’s worth $200 to me!

Took a lightning strike and still works flawlessly

I've had multiple APC units in the past, and all have been great. I recently took one out of line due to age (well over 15 years old), outlet count, and the battery. This will make my third BN1500M2, and the other two have been wonderful. I must give credit to APC. One of my other units ate a full blown lightning strike and still works flawlessly. I have antennas on a 50' tower in the pasture and lightning struck the tower, traveling down 4-conductor wire into a control module inside the house and plugged into the APC unit. The control module made some solid sparks, and the C13 plug from it to the APC unit blew the ground pin out and sent chunks of rubber across the room. The APC happens to have some soot around that specific plug, but after tripping the breaker and getting AC power back to it (it tripped the house breaker and the units own breaker) it works flawlessly.

I've been using this for a month and it has already protected my electronics through a few short power outages which is the reason I bought it. The power in my area is not stable. This has brought me so much peace of mind. The screen on the front is nice giving me a quick view of load but I like the software which tells me the exact load and how much time I have left before the battery is out. The one big gripe I have is the battery cable JUST fits into the compartment when closing the door. I actually damaged the coating on my battery cable a little trying to close the door. A little frustrating.

I got this to provide peace of mind and to insure there were no internet disruptions as my wife works from home. So I have the router, modem, PS5 and Oled TV connected to the surge protection outlets on the unit. All located in my master bedroom.
I really like the display which provides the necessary information to see how the unit is working. It also reports any events that may have happened throughout the day if you didn’t happen to be home. And when there is an event, it chimes to let you know that it has kicked in. I like that I can also put the display on sleep mode as having it in the master bedroom makes it annoying if it were left on. The only thing I cannot dim is the power button but I easily rectified that with a small piece of black electrician’s tape. You can’t even tell it’s there. Since I also have it tucked behind my TV, I utilize the USB and USB-C ports for my personal devices every day so this also allows me to check that it’s on since I covered the power button (and it’s the only indication that it’s on if you’ve dimmed the display). I had to get several small extension cords/adapters (6 inch) to allow me to connect each individual device next to each other in the allocated area for surge protection. As with many devices today, they come with large adapter type plugs and it’s almost impossible to put more than three of these devices in the small area of outlets that are on surge protectors or strips. Bottom line it’s worth every penny if for the reasons I provided above. Our “brown-outs” don’t usually last more than an hour so I was confident this had the necessary backup power for my needs and devices. Yours may vary depending on what you’re running so be mindful of that.

The Back up UPS was easy to install with instructions. Shipping was quick and on time. Unit powered on and charged and kept my pc and printers on for 15-20 minutes before power was turned back on during a black out. Would recommend for medium use devices that are not power hungry.

I’ve only had it for a couple of months. So far it is working well. One thing I had issues with in setting up this with my electronics is the space between the outlets do not allow for some items to plug in without making the receptacles on each side not able to be used. I solved the issue by plugging in a heavy duty strip, being aware not to exceed the number of items plugged in.
