Can't recommend APC
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've have 3 APC units and one of them is a different model. They all 3 failed in the same way (overheating and strong bad smell). One of them came defective, the other one failed roughly within a year with almost no use. The other one lasted a bit longer but I can't really recommend APC with 3 out of 3 units failed. I treat my equipment very well so it was not because of misuse. Will see if I have better luck it CyberPower or another brand.

Bought to stop surges from Brother Printer.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When printer on battery power plug. Surge causes APC to dump. Shuts down, taking computer with it. So bought one for just printer. Samething. Had APC that would run printer, computer, and scanner with out power. This one is however lacking.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about our UPS. Unfortunately we do not recommend connecting laser printers to our UPSs because you can run into issues like you are experiencing. The printer is likely pulling over 900 watts which is overloading the UPS. I would try moving the printer to the surge only outlets on the UPS so you can at least have surge protection on the unit. For more information on choosing an UPS for a laser printer please check out the following link. https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA158812/

Big backup reserve and lots of features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.APC has long been the "gold standard" for residential-use backup power protection. This 1500VA UPS is a beast. 1500VA is a large reserve capacity that can support the power being out for up to two hours, depending on what you have connected to it. My all-in-one desktop PC will stay alive for about 30 minutes on battery power during an AC outage. I also have another one of these units supporting my network equipment. I have a cable modem, Eero router, HVAC communications module, and a 8 port gigabit ethernet switch connected and I've never run down the battery during any outage, the longest I've experienced was about 70 minutes and the backup was still running strong. The APC powerchute software is useful if you are not always home or at your PC. When the AC power goes out, the battery backup will take over, and the APC software will save whatever you were working on and power off the computer. You need a free USB-A port to connect the communication cable. The display on the unit can show all kinds of useful information, like input and output voltages, percent of load, battery charge state, etc. You can also configure how sensitive the unit is to power conditions, and have it intervene more or less often when there is a power event. Be sure to read the instructions. Finally, the battery is easy to replace without tools. This is important because inevitably the battery will wear out and it is far cheaper to replace the battery that to replace the whole unit.

Find another UPS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Plugged it in. Turned it on. It was pretty. Plugged in my speakers, cable modem, router and PC. Turned on PC. Had to step away for a meeting, and about 15 minutes of running my gaming rig (just windows 11 desktop, no apps running) the alarms went off and F06 (relay welding) Error screaming from this thing. When trying to hit mute button, nothing, had to unplug it from wall to make the wailing stop. It's gotta be burnt up, smells terrible. Glad I was home. I have an 850W power supply, and the cable modem and router should not have maxed this thing out. What's the manual or internet say about F06 - jack crap.

F2 Error codes constantly losing power.
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased June of 24 and it has not been very secure. Looking into buying a better one. Should easily have handled 2 iMac machines and it goes off every time there is a surge or power outage. APC is usually very reliable and this one was not. Disappointing and losing work because of this backup. F2 is not a good code. Tried everything to resolve. Do Not buy!

Don't buy APC back-up UPS or from Best Buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two APC back-up UPS which were delivered on May 5. One of the two was defective. When nothing was connected to it, it said the load was shorted (an F02 error). Because of illness, I didn't unpack it until May 25. But, Best Buy says it is unreturned. That's ridiculous. You'd be an idiot to buy an APC product or from Best Buy.

Portable power station
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was fully charged, I plugged in a small heater and it only lasted less than 20 minutes.
No, I would not recommend this to a friendBrand response from APCProductSupport
Posted .Thank you for your interest in our products. Our BN1500M2 UPS really aren't designed to run heaters What is made for is computer or network type equipment usually home electronics like your computer or TV are connected to them so that you can gracefully shut them down. You would want to make sure the heater draws less than 15 amps of power so it doesn't overload the unit which would be really close to the capacity of the UPS it can support load of 900 watts sustained for 3.7 minutes only or in an impulse not damaging inverter upto 1500 VA anything more can damage inverter or trip internal breaker.
See product page of UPS https://www.se.com/us/en/product/BN1500M2/apc-backups-pro-1500va-tower-120v-10-nema-515r-outlets-lcd-1-usb-type-c-+-1-usb-type-a-ports/ and look for "runtime for load" and enter the wattage of equipment and see how long the UPS can sustain load.

Poor quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Months after setup, awful noise came from the device with an odd error message. After looking it up, found out it was a faulty battery. Not worth the time to deal with the company to get a warranty replacement. Might buy APC one more time to see if they consistently dropped in quality. But one more is all they will get from me. I had a poor voltage regulator from them too. Not the same as I remember. The products used to be good.

Would not recommend
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this the beginning of August to replace an older unit that was close to 7 years old. Within a week it shut off on it's own, so I reset it. Worked fine for another 2 weeks before shutting off again, this time it would not power back on. I removed the battery and reinstalled it, still no power. I purchased new batteries for the old unit, and it is working fine now. The new unit is dead after less than a month of use.

Avoid APC UPS's
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been in I.T. for over 25 years. I have seen a huge decline in reliability of all APC UPS models over the last 10-15 years. This seems to coincide with when Schneider Electric bought APC. This is based on experience with over 400 units currently in place.

Computer Restarts Daily
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I spent quite a bit of money having a PC built, and then I purchased this APC. My computer would restart out of nowhere, and for months I was troubleshooting a perfectly good computer. Once I disconnected my computer from this unit, all my problems ended. It has now been a month since I disconnected and my "daily" restart issues have resolved themselves. I have spent a frustrating amount of time (and expensive time as I'm a small business owner) trying to figure this out. I'm not happy about my lost time, nor with this product.

Not a good buy at all
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After 5 months I can give an honest assessment of this power unit. I’m not happy at all. At least once a month it goes into what is called ‘Brain Dead’ which can only be remedied by removing the battery from the unit, no other way around it. It also gives a replace battery warning very often until it is rebooted. It’s five months old with only one computer running off it, so if the battery is going bad this quick and for this price, it’s worthless. I’m going to tell others to avoid this power supply and go with the ‘other’ brand.

Posted .Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention regarding your BN1500M2 UPS. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or frustration they may have caused. Please run a self test with the unit by pressing and holding the power button and wait for 2 beeps, after the 2nd beep release the button. If the self test passes, it would just go into its normal operating screen but if it fails, you would hear rapid beeping sound from it. Lastly, you may also do a test by replacing the load of the UPS from your computer to other computer peripherals and observe it. You may also contact us via chat, for further assistance about this: https://www.apc.com/us/en/tools/chat/

Fails after ~3 years
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The battery fails after ~3 years. Then, this causes a power failure, which is what the unit is supposed to prevent...... It turns out that this is well known and common.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to review our BackUps Pro BN 1500 VA. We appreciate the feedback. If your unit's battery failed after 3 years and did not met your expectation. Most APC batteries should last three to five years. There are many factors which affect Battery life including environment and number of discharges. Please refer to this link:  https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA158934/ .

We assure that our units are being tested before they are released for sales. As long as this unit is handled following the instructions and used within its intended purpose, then everything should be fine.
