Documentary of heroes finding creative ways to turn a tragedy into a big success.

Well, what can I say..... I was just old enough to remember the actual event, but too young to appreciate what was happening. But since childhood I was fascinated by the space program. When this movie came out I couldn't see it often enough... and it didn't matter that I knew the ending... I still held my breath. it was (and is) in all respects an amazing achievement; brilliant cast, brilliant directing, perfect re-creation of locations, many of the technical advisors were people who had actually been part of the mission staff, a magnificent score..... this movie is thrilling. My one disappointment with this anniversary release is that I had hoped for something more meaty in the added extra, which was the primary reason I shelled out money for another copy.... although the enhanced visual quality is certainly a plus.

Many of you already are familiar with the movie itself, so I won't review it here. As for the quality of this blu-ray, it offers a beautiful rendering of the original film with great audio (5.1), as well. As a result, I'm not sure the 4K version (which I believe also offers 5.1 audio) would be much of a step-up. Older movies (this film hit theaters 25 years ago) weren't made with 4K in mind, so I didn't feel this particular movie could be enhanced much more to justify the step-up in price. But it's a matter of opinion, I guess. As it is, the film was remastered for this blu-ray and includes a digital code so you can load a copy to Vudu and access it anywhere. So for me, this edition of the blu-ray is more than enough, and catching it on sale made it a no-brainer. I recommend it.

Great movie. My favorite Hanks movie. Very realistic. Minor upgrade to image quality, but major improvements to sound. If you don't have this on Blu-ray, get this one. If you never saw this, do yourself a favor....

There wasn't many 4k choices on the shelf, but this movie is an old favorite and I thought it might look great in 4k. It didn't disappoint. I've probably seen this move a dozen or more times, but it hasn't looked like this since I saw it in the theater 20+ years ago.

Great classic film. The 4K remaster on this doesn't add a whole lot.

Amazing true story showing how man can overcome even the most difficult situations with teamwork, grit, and determination. Additionally, this movie looks great in 4K with a 4K OLED TV for true blacks.
