Customers are saying
Customers value the 21.5" iMac's stunning display quality, ease of use, and compact design. Many appreciate the crisp, colorful picture and the user-friendly interface. Some wish for more RAM and a faster hard drive, and the lack of a CD drive is also a recurring concern. Overall, the positive feedback on the display and ease of use outweighs the negative comments regarding storage and upgradeability.

Very good machine, but it's not excellent.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Generally this iMac is very good. Powerful processor (3.1GHz). Memory is ok(8GB) but it's onboard and you can not upgrade it later. I'm not happy with storage (1Tb Hard drive). It's big enough but, it's old generation of storage and when you open big file video or photos you can see that it's slow. I work with Go pro application (video) and I can see that that extremely slow. Display is very good. Retina 4K is amazing and it's not just for watching 4k video or photos. When you read an article on websites, it's like a print on a piece of paper. (readable with high contrast). sound is ok. (I have plan to buy speakers). Keyboard and mouse are wireless and chargeable. I wish the keyboard had LED lights at dark time. I had a Macbook before and for me it's hard to work with mouse. That's why I got a magic pad that it's an amazing stuff. I bought iMac on good sale, and it's worth it, but i'm not sure it worth for $1500! If you are a general user probably is ok for you ,but if you want to work with semi- pro applications it's good to upgrade at the first (you can order it just in apple website or apple store) with Fusion drive or Flash storage plus 16GB memory.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never worked from the day I got it. Apple certified tech promised to fix it or replace it for 6 months but found out he wasn't even employed anymore. Best Buy and geek squad were wonderful in assisting me in replacing the entire computer. Kudos

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a Mac user for many, many years.. I have never had any issues with any product from Apple until I bought a new iMac and I had to return it the next day then got another one same problem! That's two defective products right off the shelf I'm very disappointed ..

Apple Has Done It Again.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When Apple originally announced the 5K iMac last year I began getting excited for a high resolution 21.5" iMac to complement it. What I did not expect was a 4K desktop for less than $1500. While it would have been even better to have the fusion drive be standard, once indexed the 5400 rpm drive is pretty good. The highlight of this machine: the crispiness of all those pixels. This screen is such a pleasure to look at. The speakers are pretty solid too.

Awesome Display
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only two things negative about this computer... The slow hard drive and the non upgradeable RAM!! If you can live with that then you'll love this computer.

An Almost-Perfect Design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Best Buy and finally got all of my files, music, and movies downloaded and settings as I want them, and have had a chance to play around with it. I have two other Macs (a three year old Mac Air I use for travel and a Macbook Pro I bought at BB in early May that I love). I wanted something with a larger screen for the house that I could move relatively easily, but didn't want a traditional desktop, with all the cables and room that requires. This one fits the bill nicely. Mine is the 21" with the Retina display. The screen is absolutely gorgeous. The PC is very quiet, and there is no fan or hard drive noise that I can discern. I got this one after ruminating for several days whether to get the 21" or 27" (both were on sale at Best Buy), and this one fits my needs a bit better in terms of size and was a bit cheaper. If you spend a lot of time online and doing basic tasks, or you like to watch movies, this thing is wonderful. Wireless connection speed is excellent and it does have a traditional ethernet port, unlike the new Mac laptops, if you want a wired connection. It also has a standard SD card slot in the back and accepts standard-form SDXC cards, unlike my Macbook Pro, which required a proprietary card. Keyboard is very small, light and flimsy-looking but works well and, like the included Magic Mouse, is rechargeable via the included lightning to USB connector. A standard iPhone lightning cable will perform the same function. Only negative is the included 5400 rpm 1 TB hard drive. I knew this included that when I bought it, but couldn't justify the huge premium Apple charges to move up to a Fusion or especially Solid State drive, and those are difficult to find in retail stores, so you'll likely need to configure and order it on the Apple website, and then you'll pay full markup without a sale like the kind Best Buy routinely offers. Nonetheless, the base drive is painfully slow at times, and this iMac's boot up and general feel are noticeably much slower than either my MacBook Pro or Air, despite similar (or more, vs. the Air) memory and a much-superior processor. Memory is adequate at 8 GB and, in the 21" version, is not upgradable. The 27" version does still have user-accessible slots and you can add memory. The hard drive is not easily upgradable in either and not something I'd recommend anything other than an advanced apple user attempt, and would probably void your warranty. In mine though, I installed a memory management program and utilization seldom goes over 60%, so 8 GB should be fine for now. The form is beautiful and the display quality is flawless. Once again, excellent Apple execution EXCEPT I'm really disappointed that they made the decision to put such an archaic hard disk in an otherwise premium computer, and it's not designed to be able to upgrade. Online tasks and general usage are fine, however, once everything loads up. Overall, still a really nice machine and I would recommend, with the caveat that people are aware of the obsolete, slow hard drive that can really impact performance feel.

good product and price, upgrades should be standrd
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.great computer at a good price. only complaint would be that the RAM is not expandable. also the fusion solid state drive should be standard and not be such a markup.

Best desktop out there for a small business!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own a small business and have an older iMac (2009 model) that is still going strong which is the reason I decided to invest in another when the need for another computer came up. This iMac so far is running so smooth and the screen is absolutely crispy clear! Stay away from PCs unless you want to deal with a lot of issues in the long run!
