Works just like the original Mac charger: works great

I got it to replace mine that split. Same as the original that came with the MacAir.

Our daughter bought one of those 3rd party Apple chargers and we ended up paying for it dearly. It was a cheap knockoff that ended up frying the power board on the MacBook. Thank goodness that the Magsafe board was less than $100 otherwise we would be looking at a logic board replacement for over $700. We learned our lesson - only genuine products like this one.

I bought this as a backup because I've forgotten to bring mine home when I travel (to family), and it's nice to have one to use until mine is returned. I wish they weren't so expensive, but there's no way around the price unless you're able to get an open box item, which I did. It was a few behind the stack of them, so dig a little and make sure there isn't one in there.
