    I purchased this power cord so that I could have one cord which would be stationary at home, and another to travel with me in my backpack. I debated purchasing a cheaper "knock-off", but after reading the reviews, I decided to go with the genuine Apple product. Several reviews that I read talked about charging issues, or how a cheaper imitation would overheat. Even though I didn't want to spend the money, it was more important for me to protect my investment.

    I was going to buy a 60W MagSafe 2 power adapter to replace my original adapter for my 13" MacBook Pro. The store didn't have the 60W but they did have this 85W adapter, for the same price as the 60W. The benefit to me is that it charges my 13" MBP faster than the original adapter for the same price. Thanks to BB for having someone knowledgeable at the store to direct me to this product as a replacement for the 60W version.
