I really would love to give a great review on these AirPods. When I first got them, I thought they were the best. I was amazed by the noise canceling capability of something so small. Unfortunately, the feelings towards these things didn’t last. Literally about a month after the warranty expired, one of the buds started making a horrendous hissing sound when noise canceling was enabled. The hissing noise was so loud that it was immediately kind of painful to wear. At this point, I decided to try to take the defective AirPod in and get it repaired/replaced. It was only one of them, and I assumed that they had to have a manufacturer defect because they never left my desk. These were used almost exclusively for my home office during the pandemic. So I figured it would be replaced almost immediately upon inspection at an Apple Store. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The replacement/repair cost was almost the cost of a new pair of AirPods. If I did go and get it replaced, I would not be able to get them under any kind of warranty through Apple. If the other one that wasn’t having any problems suddenly started doing the same thing, I would be completely out of luck. So no thank you on the repair. I decided to go another route for ear buds. It’s too bad though because they work pretty well otherwise. These things are too expensive to be considered a disposable item. Offer better support/repair options, or maybe offer a steep discount on trading in bad AirPods for brand new ones. It’s doesn’t seem very eco friendly of Apple to treat these things that disposable. Unfortunately, I really doubt that Apple will change their support options on these things.
