The AirPods 4 with ANC offer an improved experience over the AirPods Pro 2, especially for users who struggle to get a good fit with silicone tips. One of the biggest benefits is how well these earbuds stay in place, even during intense activities like heavy exercise, significantly reducing the chances of sound leaks or fall-offs.
Enhanced ANC for Poor Silicone Tip Fits
For users who found the ANC on AirPods Pro 2 less effective due to an imperfect fit with silicone tips, the AirPods 4 deliver a marked improvement. Their secure fit ensures a more consistent seal, leading to better noise cancellation. In fact, the ANC performs better on the AirPods 4 for those who cannot achieve a good fit with silicone tips. By staying firmly in place, the ANC on AirPods 4 can actually outperform that of the Pro 2, making external noise less intrusive in various environments.
Perfect for Active Lifestyles
Whether you're running, working out, or engaging in heavy movement, the AirPods 4 excel in staying put. Their fit ensures there’s little risk of falling out or sound leakage, a problem common with earbuds that rely on silicone tips. This stability keeps the sound steady, preventing interruptions or dips in quality during vigorous activities. The AirPods 4 are therefore ideal for users with an active lifestyle who need earbuds that can handle motion without requiring constant adjustments.
Closer to AirPods Pro 2 in Features
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)
The standout feature that aligns the AirPods 4 with the AirPods Pro 2 is their Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Both models deliver top-tier ANC performance, effectively cutting down on ambient noise in environments like airplanes, busy offices, or crowded streets. Unlike many other earbuds, the AirPods 4’s ANC performance rivals that of the Pro 2, making them a go-to choice for users who need noise isolation but don’t want the in-ear feel of silicone tips.
Transparency Mode
Like the AirPods Pro 2, the AirPods 4 feature Transparency Mode, allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings without removing the earbuds. This mode works fluidly and naturally, allowing external sounds to pass through seamlessly.
Audio Quality
When it comes to sound, the AirPods 4 closely mirror the AirPods Pro 2. Both feature high-excursion drivers and custom amplifiers, delivering rich, balanced audio with deep bass, clear mids, and crisp highs. They also offer spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, providing an immersive experience for music, movies, and calls. This advanced audio performance sets the AirPods 4 apart from more basic models, offering a level of richness and depth that enhances the overall listening experience.
Battery Life
Battery performance on the AirPods 4 is comparable to the Pro 2, offering around 4 hours of playback with ANC, and 5 hours without. However, the charging case extends total usage to 30 hours, matching the longevity of the AirPods Pro 2. This extended battery life is suitable for long periods of use without frequent recharges.
No Skin Detection or Hearing Health Features
While the AirPods Pro 2 comes equipped with Skin Detection sensors and future Hearing Health features, the AirPods 4 omit these, offering a simpler experience. However, the AirPods 4 still include many premium features that elevate them above more basic options on the market.
Final Thoughts
The AirPods 4 with ANC share far more in common with the AirPods Pro 2 than with other models. With premium features such as Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency Mode, and enhanced sound quality, the AirPods 4 deliver a Pro-level experience in a more comfortable, open-ear design. While missing some advanced sensors like skin detectionand Hearing Health monitoring, the AirPods 4’s similarities to the Pro 2 in terms of performance and noise cancellation make them an excellent option for users who want Pro features without silicone tips.
For those who value ANC, premium sound, and seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem—but don’t like the in-ear design of the Pro series—the AirPods 4 is a godsend.

Not charging one or both headphones. Doesnt hold a charge somethings in the right one. The case battery percentage gos 1213415262415 sometimes and the airpods dont disconnect after being put in the case. Was playing music thru the airpods that were in the case. My first airpods and my last

I’ve been using my AirPods for a few weeks now, and I’m really happy with them. The sound quality is clear with good bass for their size, and the noise cancellation Air pods 4 works surprisingly well. They connect instantly to my iPhone and switch easily between devices, which is super convenient.
Battery life is solid—I can get through a day with no issues, and the case charges them quickly. The fit is comfortable, and I can wear them for long periods without discomfort.
Only downside is the price—it’s a bit steep compared to other earbuds—but the overall Apple ecosystem integration makes it worth it for me.

I've been using the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation for a couple of weeks now, and honestly, they're a solid upgrade if you're in the Apple ecosystem and hate the idea of silicone tips jamming into your ears. At $179, they're not cheap, but they feel like a smart middle ground between the basic AirPods and the Pro models—especially if you want some noise blocking without that sealed-in feeling.
First off, the design is super comfy for long wear. They're smaller and lighter than the AirPods 3, with a refined shape that sits better in my ears without falling out during walks or light workouts. The open-ear style lets in some natural sound, which is great for awareness, but the IP54 rating means they're sweat- and splash-resistant enough for everyday use. The charging case is tiny—seriously, it slips into any pocket—and supports wireless charging plus a speaker for Find My pings if you misplace it. Controls are a squeeze on the stems for play/pause or switching modes, which is intuitive and glove-friendly, though I miss the volume swipe from the Pros.
Sound-wise, they're a step up from older AirPods. The H2 chip delivers clearer mids, punchier bass (for open buds, anyway), and Spatial Audio with head tracking that makes movies and music feel immersive. It's not audiophile-level, but for podcasts, pop, or calls, it's crisp and balanced—no more tinny vibes. Call quality is excellent too, with Voice Isolation making me sound natural even in windy spots.
Now the ANC—it's surprisingly effective for open-ear buds. It tamps down low rumbles like traffic or AC hums by a good 30-50%, and modes like Adaptive Audio blend it with Transparency seamlessly. Conversation Awareness is handy; it lowers volume when I start chatting and ramps it back up after. That said, it's not Pro-level—it won't fully block a screaming subway or jet engine, and some folks report ear pressure or headaches from it. Battery life is meh: about 4 hours with ANC on (5 off), up to 20-30 total with the case, which is shorter than I'd like for all-day use.
Overall, if you can't stand in-ear tips but want Apple magic like Siri nods and easy switching between devices, these are awesome—way better than nothing for noise control in an open design. But if you can swing the extra $50 for AirPods Pro 2 (often on sale), go for those; the seal makes everything superior. I'd give the AirPods 4 ANC an 8/10—great daily drivers, just not perfect.

The Apple AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (White) deliver crisp, clear audio with impressive bass and balanced mids. The Active Noise Cancellation effectively blocks out background noise, making them perfect for work, travel, or workouts. They’re comfortable for extended wear, connect seamlessly with Apple devices, and the battery life keeps you going all day. With spatial audio and intuitive touch controls, these AirPods feel premium, practical, and a step above previous models.

I am typically not a fan of earbuds as they feel uncomfortable and fall out. I used over-ear Bose headphones instead. But I tried these new Airpods 4 with noise cancellation and they fit so comfortably AND block noise as well as my Bose 700. I tested them both on a 4+ hour flight and the Airpods were better in all respects except battery life. This is the only downside, but was less of an issue than I expected because dropping them in the case for a few minutes charged them up quickly and they lasted long enough for the remainder of the trip. These really do feel like practically nothing in your ears and I don't feel like they will fall out. I like to lean my head against the wall of the plane or tilt my head to one side to sleep and these allow me to do so without shifting or adjusting as I had to do with the large headphones. Plus I can wear a hat on top of them. Bass response and overall audio quality are very good.

I recently upgraded to the Apple AirPod 4, and overall, I'm very impressed with the improvements Apple has made in this latest generation. The design remains sleek and minimalist, with a slightly more refined shape that fits comfortably in the ear. They're lightweight and secure, even during workouts or extended wear. Battery life is solid, with around 6 hours of listening time on a single charge and more than 24 hours with the charging case. The fast charging feature is handy if you're in a rush. The AirPod 4 are a strong step forward for Apple's wireless earbuds. They're not cheap, but if you're already in the Apple ecosystem and value sound quality, comfort, and intelligent features, they're definitely worth considering.

Okay, so I caved and got the new Apple AirPods 4—because my old ones were holding on for dear life and sounded like a tin can on Bluetooth.
Pros:
• The sound? Chef’s kiss. Seriously, it’s like Beyoncé moved into my ears.
• The new noise cancellation is actually pretty solid! Not “ignore my toddler screaming” solid, but “block out the Target crowd” solid.
• They’re comfy, don’t fall out when I’m cleaning, and pair faster than I can say “Hey Siri.”
• The case is smaller, sleeker, and looks like something a minimalist influencer would own.
Cons:
• The ANC doesn’t block everything—so don’t expect Pro-level silence.
• Battery life dips if you keep noise cancellation on.
• If you don’t have an iPhone, they lose half their magic tricks.
• And let’s be honest… they’re not exactly budget-friendly.
Overall, I’d give them 4.5 out of 5 stars. They sound amazing, make my life slightly more peaceful, and only occasionally remind me I overpaid for earbuds. Worth it.

Noise cancellation and transparency modes have been noticeably improved, making calls and music seamless in any environment. The fit is super comfortable, even for long wear, and they stay put during workouts.
Battery life is impressive, and the updated case charges fast and feels more durable. Pairing with all my Apple devices is instant and effortless. The new features like personalized spatial audio and touch volume control are game changers.
If you’re looking for premium wireless earbuds that deliver on every level, the AirPods 4 are worth every penny.

I have owned every version of the AirPod product line since their inception. With the exception of the AirPods Pro, I am one of those that have had a hard time getting them to fit in my ears securely. AirPods 4 now fit much better than previous models - and that is significant to me. The sound quality is on par with the AirPods Pro and the while the ANC is not as good as the Pros, they are very effective for “open” buds. I would say that they are about 80% as effective at ANC as the Pros. The AirPods 4 have become my “to go” earbuds - even over the AirPods Pro. They are more comfortable (no more “plugs” in my ears) than the Pros, sound as good, and in most circumstances, the ANC is surprisingly effective. And finally, the battery life is as advertised. A definite buy!!!

I just love these air pods. The sound and clarity are amazing. The fit in my ear is great, the battery life is what I love the most and how easy it paired with my devices. So happy with my purchase

I upgraded to the AirPods 4 with noise cancellation from the previous Air Pods model. They are a very worthwhile upgrade. The noise cancellation is vastly superior, they fit my ear better (personally), the sound is much better, and the battery life is excellent. The sound is more rich even than my Bose ear buds, though the Bose buds are a little more comfortable than the Air Pods. If you're willing to spend a few more dollars I'd highly recommend these buds.

I’ve been using the new AirPods Pro (4th generation) for a few weeks now, and I can confidently say I’m very satisfied with this purchase. Apple has done a fantastic job improving what was already a great product. The sound quality, comfort, and especially the noise cancellation have exceeded my expectations.
First, the noise cancellation is truly impressive. It blocks out background sounds almost completely — whether I’m working in a busy café, walking in the city, or traveling on a noisy bus. It creates a calm, focused environment, which has really improved how I listen to music, podcasts, and even take calls.
The sound quality is rich and balanced. Bass is strong without being overwhelming, vocals are crisp, and the spatial audio feature makes watching movies or shows on my iPad feel immersive. It’s like having a mini home theater in your ears.
In terms of comfort, these AirPods fit really well. The different ear tip sizes included in the box helped me find the perfect fit, and they stay securely in place even during workouts. I barely feel them after a while, which is a big plus.
The battery life is solid too. I can use them for several hours without needing to recharge, and the case provides multiple charges, which makes them perfect for long days or travel. Pairing and switching between Apple devices is also seamless and fast — no hassles at all.
Another standout feature is Transparency Mode, which lets in outside sound when I need to hear what’s going on around me. It’s really useful when walking in public or having a quick conversation without taking the AirPods out.
Overall, I highly recommend the AirPods Pro (4th gen) to anyone looking for premium wireless earbuds with top-tier noise cancellation. They are definitely worth the investment.
