I previously had the airpods 3 and though they still worked, the battery life has been falling off after several years of use so I went for an upgrade. I have never used noise cancelling so was quite blown away by the active noise cancelling feature - it really does block out the ambient noise and let's you focus on what you are playing / hearing! I've been using these now for several weeks and they work completely as advertised. Charges easily, connects effortlessly, great sound quality and I am enjoying the smaller profile earbuds. If you wear any type of headphones / earbuds, these are at least worth strong consideration. Highly recommended!

Finally upgraded from the original AirPods and the difference is night and day. The ANC is legit - cuts out BART noise, open office chatter, all of it. I ended up buying the AirPods 4 with ANC because I was over wearing earbuds with tips due to irritation and just feeling like my head was clogged. I had AirPods 2 back when and liked how they just sit right in your ear and they worked well for phone calls, music and podcasts. These are more for convenience than sound and they work perfect with my iPhone and Apple Watch so it was a no brainer. Picked them up on a sale and really enjoy them, the Spatial Audio simulates wearing over ear headphones but can make some things sound thin although I prefer since it helps the soundstage sound more open. The ANC works well enough considering these don’t have tips to isolate, I can usually be out and about and with ANC on and my music or podcast going it keeps the outside noises to a minimum, really cool tech feat for Apple. I’d say these are worth picking up if you have a compatible device and they sound decent but audiophiles will need to look elsewhere.
