Solid construction with a good sound to them. A little on the heavy side, so not ideal for working out or running. That's not a complaint so much as a fact. All that mass moving around on your skull means you're correcting its position often. Sound-wise, there's probably better in this price range, but in terms of build quality, you'd have to spend more.

Great sound and noise cancellation with a sleek design.

These looks great and are the best purchase for airplane travel. The noise canceling and regular status both keep my ears clear and with the help of Airfly plug in, I can use them with ease wirelessly using the airplane headphone jack.

I also have the SONY XM4 but after reading all the good review of these I decided to bite the bullet and give these a try. $600 is not a small amount to swallow for a pair of headphones. I'm not an audiophile, but definitely someone who appreciates good sounding music. After receiving these, I immediately compared them with the XM4 back and forth with the same songs from Apple Music. Here is what I found: (1) the sound: the AirPods Max definitely sound better, but not by a whole lot. They have slightly better instrument separation. The highs are more crisp (I thought the XM4 was already very good in this regard but the AirPods Max are just even better). XM4's bass is a bit deeper but the AirPods Max's is still good and I'd say even a bit less muddy than the SONY's. I guess each to their own. Overall, every time I put on the AirPods Max for the same song, the song alway sounds just a slightly clearer and more pleasant for my taste. (2) the comfort: Sony wins this one hands down. Although I didn't feel much about the extra weight, there's definitely that clamping feeling on my head with the AirPods Max. Every time when I switched back to the XM4, my head immediately felt relieved. However, I also found that I was able to get used to the AirPods Max and wore them for hours without issues. (3) the Transparency mode: Apple definitely wins this one, and, to my surprise, this has become the main reason I'm keeping these. The Max's transparency mode is just so much better than the XM4's. I found myself sounding a lot more natural and even have a bit heightened sense of hearing with the Max's transparency mode on. The Sony's sounds just too robotic to me. I also like the simplicity of activating this feature by just a push of a button on the Max. (4) the Hand-off feature: I have an iPhone, an iPad and a Mac Mini. The airpods just switch between them effortlessly. However, I also have these connected to my work Windows 10 PC. The auto handoff feature will stop working if they’re still connected to the PC. Just keep this in mind. (5) Build quality. Apple wins this one for sure. Overall, I’d say that the sound of these is about $50-100 better than the XM4's. Considering the added features, much better build quality and the leather carrying case (which I hate btw), I was actually surprised that the $550 asking price actually seems to be reasonable to me now since the SONY’s MSRP is $350. Sure, it sucks these headphones don’t have an on-off button and won’t turn themselves off until you put them in the ugly case. But, on the other hand, they easily last about 3 days of use in my case. I think if I can charge my phone every day then I can certainly charge these once every 3 days. To be honest, I was going to return them after first wearing them and feeling the clamping effect on the first day. But after a couple of more days of extensive use, I’ve decided to keep them around because I think they're worth it.

Great sound quality and easy to wear for an extended time. I work from home and these are great for cancelling out the barking dogs or yard work during calls. Also love that they feel light wait for walking and listening to my podcasts. Love the ability to listen to my music in the background while on meetings as well.

Very good fit, sound quality is better than beats, and great for active people. I use them in the gym everyday and never have a problem with slipping or disconnecting.

Battery life is great, and the noise cancellation function is incredible. I love that you can go from hearing absolutely nothing from the outside world to having a full conversation with the click of a button.

I was not planning to buy this product but I immediately felt like I wanted it the moment I tried it! Although I’m not very familiar with how the competitors sound, the look and feel of this is surely superior, just like any other Apple product. I also have a small head and not all headphones feel comfortable. The length of the sides of the airpods max can be adjusted and the shortest adjustment is just right for me. Anyone who lives in the apple universe should definitely get these as it makes connecting to your different devices so easy!

Mother got these for my sister, she says not only do they they sound great, they look good also.

I absolutely love my AirPods Max, but for these to be $600 it would be nice if they were water resistant. Any kind of liquid would ruin them and without Apple care it would be over $330 to fix. I suggest you get apple care. You’ll love these if you’re an Apple lover, but if you’re just on the market for headphones you can find a pair over $500 cheaper. If these were $250-$300 I would give them 5 stars.

Great quality such great bass loud and clear connects real easy

Better than I expected. You will not be disappointed, I also don’t know why are people complaining about the weight. I have worn them for over an hour and they do not hurt my ears or feel heavy after a while. We all know the sound quality is the best I’ve ever heard. I come from a normal beats headphones and also Bose Headphones and I feel Apple’s nailed in comparison.

If airpods aren’t for you…. This should be your replacement! These headphones cancel out excess noise so you can truly be in the moment all while listening to your favorite song! Comfort, high quality, and phenomenal sound! Package deal!

Loved these headphones as they had everything I look for in a good pair of headphones. Such as, awesome sound quality for both movies and music, noise cancellation, quick pairing and disconnecting, awesome design, and works seamlessly with my iphone.

Sound quality is excellent. Crisp and clean audio not heavy on bass, they spatial audio while watching movies and shows is magnificent. Build quality is awesome very high end materials. Charging is quick and battery life is very good. Case should be better but there are several affordable 3rd party cases available.
