Pretty great overall, the typical amazing integration with other Apple devices. I've used them twice on a plane and it takes a bit to get comfortable, although they squeeze lymph nodes/soft tissue less than the Bose QC I bought and returned. Sound cancellation is good, but I expected it to be nearly no intrusion for the price. Improvement vs. my 15 year old corded Bose earbuds is smaller than expected.

These are expensive headphones, but the sound quality and ease of use in the Apple environment make this a 5-star review for me. The upgrade to USB-C was a great, although overdue, update.

The Apple AirPods Max are simply outstanding. From the moment you put them on, the build quality and comfort stand out. The memory foam ear cushions provide a snug yet breathable fit, and the stainless steel frame feels premium without being too heavy. The sound quality is where these truly shine. The spatial audio creates an immersive listening experience, and the active noise cancellation (ANC) is among the best in the industry. Whether you’re blocking out background noise on a plane or just enjoying music at home, the ANC delivers. Transparency mode is also a game-changer, seamlessly letting in outside sound when needed. Battery life is solid at around 20 hours per charge, and the integration with Apple devices is seamless. Switching between my iPhone, iPad, and Mac is effortless, thanks to Apple’s ecosystem magic. The Digital Crown for volume and playback control is intuitive and feels great to use. If I could add one thing, it would be a better case—one that takes advantage of charging capabilities. I’ve really enjoyed using the AirPods Max. The sound quality is rich, the noise cancellation is excellent, and the comfort is better than I expected. They integrate perfectly with Apple devices, making the whole experience smooth. Despite the high price, I definitely recommend them.

Having had the previous gen, this is-no surprise- very good for all kinds of content, including while traveling but it is a bit on the heavy side and I have other brand/models for traveling though great around the house when I want to listen to shows or casual music, audio-books, etc., great noise cancelling and transparency mode (the best I've heard while on transparency mode!).

Absolutely love. Was given them as a gift last year for Christmas. But unfortunately never got to use them cause my ex took them back when we broke up after I caught him cheating. (I finally bought them for myself.!!)
