They are sold as new, but when i connect them to my son's ipad they already had a name assigned to them. At no time did we name the headphones as "Mom's ❤️ " because that is dumb. So after seeing that the possibility is that they are refurbished i called Apple, in which they told me to call best buy since i bought them from them. I did and they were absolutely no help. I wanted them to state that they sold me a pair of refurbished headphones and not new, which they should not be doing. For something i paid a good amount of money for i would expect them to be new.
