AirPods Will Not Connect to Case Anymore

I had the Gen 2 AirPods that lasted me a couple of years before the ear buds themselves could not connect to the case. I’ve only had these for 7 months and they are already doing the same thing. I’ve tried doing a hard reset and the light on the case does not turn white to connect, just blinking amber.
