Trying my wife’s regular AirPods is what really opened me up to the whole “true wireless” earbud experience. She’s had several others (including Skullcandy), but when I heard the quality of sound, with how lightweight they were (I forgot they were in my ears at one point), I had to buy a pair of my own. I decided to one up her, and get these Pros. While not as easy to forget about in your ears, the features vs the same gen “regular” AirPods more than make up for it. When you hold the volume slider on the scroll down screen, you can choose various adjustments (noise cancelling, transparency, or adaptive, which is a mix of both). Fixed Spatial Audio (think Dolby Atmos) is definitely worth turning on for a “wider” soundstage. It comes with several rubber tips for different ear sizes, and you can do a fit test through your iPhone (the standard ones were a good fit for me). And because of these tips, I do believe they stay in your ear better than the standard AirPods. I’ve only dropped an AirPod twice in probably close to a year of having them while on the go. Connectivity is excellent, and relatively seamless. I’ve connected it to my iPhone, MacOS, Nintendo Switch seamlessly. The only issue I had was connecting it to Windows 10, but a quick Windows update fixed that. That says more about my rapidly aging computer and how much I use it, more than it says about the AirPods though. I do love the sound quality, especially with the Spatial Audio on. I’ve never been one to follow trends, and always have been a “budget audiophile”, trying to find the best sounding headphones (usually under $100) for the price. While these definitely aren’t “budget”, the sound, wireless connectivity, ease of use, and portability combined, definitely justify the price.

Excellent sound; (I am a musician, I'm very picky about sound, I am a music teacher, and listen to all genres of music) and the fit is perfect because Apple gives several sized earpod pieces that fit over the Airpods. They are comfortable, too. ever worry about them falling out of my ears. The charge they have is amazing - I don't have to charge them very often; I can use them for 6 hours. I've experimented with several other kinds of headphones but these are superior to any others I have tested. Superimpressed.

Better Battery Life: You get up to 6 hours of playtime with ANC on and 30 hours with the case. Find My: The case has a speaker, making it easier to track down if lost. Comfortable Fit: New ear tips and a fit test ensure better comfort and sound isolation. Cons: Expensive: They’re pricey, which may be a dealbreaker for some. No Major Design Changes: They look almost the same as the originals, so don’t expect a new look. No USB-C Charging: Still using Lightning instead of USB-C, which is a bit annoying if you already have USB-C devices. I am coming from the Airpod generation 2s and this was HUGE upgrade. Much more comfortable, works seamlessly on IOS, and the noise cancellation is genuinely impressive. I feel like I just went underwater when I pop them in. Battery life and bud life seems to be pretty good, nothing shocking there. Ultimately a bit pricy but I imagine I'll be using these for years. If you're like me and spend a lot of time doing monotonous task like yard work, you'll appreciate being able to comfortably listen to music or a podcast, and also to be able to chat with people as the noise cancellation adjust to be more transparent when you speak.

Great noise cancellation even without music playing. The Spatial Audio is nice and even gets me from time to time. I’ll be listening to music and jump when a sound seemingly comes from behind me. The connectivity is seamless for Apple devices with plenty of customization for handoffs to other Apple devices, noise cancellation as well as controls for skipping songs pausing etc. The case has good wireless charging, but admittedly has issues with battery life for me at least. I’ve used other brands as well as non pro AirPods and the battery life on this case has been the shortest of the bunch. The buds themselves have never let me down during use on flights, yard work, wood working etc. that’s said if I use these even semi-frequently I need to make sure I’m charging every couple of days where as it was often 2 weeks between charges before.

So I think it’s safe to say I’m well-credentialed in my knowledge of AirPods and their use in everyday life. I’m going to break down this review into sections: Design, Sound Quality, Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Transparency mode, battery life, experience using iOS 18 and the new features it brings to AirPods, noticeable upgrades from my first-gen AirPods Pro, whether it’s worth upgrading to from a previous pair of AirPods, whether you should choose AirPods Pro or the new AirPods 4 with ANC, and Final Thoughts.
