The noise cancellation helps me focus and not get overstimulated. I think Apple charges too much, but I do not know their cost to produce, still they seem to be raking it in.

Noise canceling is fantastic, The only reason I do not use them now is because I purchased the 3 gen which are a slight but not massive improvement.

The 2nd Gen is worth the upgrade.
