Connectivity issues

When wearing my AirPods Pro gen 1 at the gym I can leave my iPhone in the locker upstairs and walk clear across the gym with no issues (open area). These Gen 2 AirPods Pro loses connection after about 20-30 feet. I have to stay near to my phone. Also If I cup my ears with my hands they lose connection. No I won't be doing this but it just shows there's some bad components or software happening. I sent them to apple thinking they were defective but Apple sent them back saying nothing was wrong and they are up to date. As long as I am near my laptop or iPhone they sound awesome. Just something to be aware of. I went back to using my gen 1 for the gym.

I expected a more than decent quality of sound, it is ok but not as good as Sony’s WF 1000 M4’s
