Bought this after my old headphones went through the wash (oops) and wanted an upgrade. The noise-canceling isn't perfect by any means but good enough for what I want. The shape kind of hurt my ears at first, but I was expecting that. I got the Pro because of the padded tip.

I can’t say for certain that the noise cancelling is “twice as good as the first generation,” but it’s good, the improvement is defintely worth the purchase price. Volume control on the stems is a nice feature, and not nearly as finicky as early reviews make it seem.
