Weak latching case

Within the first week the case had opened multiple times with airpods falling out. Unfortunately they were lost by week two and unable to be found. Tried contacting Apple to see if they could be replaced due to faulty case and was unfortunately told no because I didn't call the first time it unlatched easily and it happened several times. So my daughter is out $250 from her Christmas money unfortunately. But for the two weeks she had them she said the sound quality was great.
