Air tag for bike

If my bike is stolen, I want to be able to locate it using the air tag. I’ve tried finding my bike at multiple locations. It works great if the bike is outdoors. If the bike is in a garage or inside a house or apartment, I can find the general location but not specifically where the bike is located. If the thief takes it indoors, guess I’ll have to set up surveillance in the general area and wait for the the bike to be taken outside.
